Our offices will close today at noon and remain closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

We’re grateful for the hard work and dedication of our DTCI team and especially proud of the people who spend their days helping keep Oklahoma’s roads and work zones moving safely.

We hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved long weekend with family and friends.

We’re proud to recognize Steve Baumgardner for his commitment to safety and the team around him.

For Steve, one of the best parts of the job is the people he works with and being part of a team. Outside of work, you’ll likely find him playing guitar or riding his mountain bike.

His safety advice is simple but important: always wear your personal protective equipment and make safety a habit. As Steve put it, practicing professionalism and safety every day means you’ll be ready when it matters most.

And when it comes down to what working safely really means to him, Steve said it best: “Working safely means that I get to go home every day.”

That is what safety is all about. Looking out for yourself, your coworkers, and making sure everyone makes it home at the end of the day.

Thank you, Steve, for setting a strong example and keeping safety top of mind!

Friday night, we hosted our annual Managers’ Appreciation Dinner, where we celebrated the incredible leaders who help make our company what it is.

This month marks an incredible 20 years with DTCI for Jimmy Johnson. For two decades, Jimmy has led with integrity, dedication, and an unmatched work ethic. He treats this company as if it were his own, leads by example, and consistently demonstrates the core values that define who we are. His commitment to our employees, our contractors, and the success of our team is evident in everything he does.

Congratulations to Jimmy on being named our Leader of the Year!

Thank you for 20 years of outstanding leadership, dedication, and setting the standard for excellence. This recognition is truly well deserved!

As we continue recognizing Safety Awareness Month, we want to spotlight the team helping lead the conversation behind the scenes: our Safety Committee.

This group helps keep safety at the forefront of what we do every day by talking through hazards, near misses, safety concerns, positive safety performance, and ways we can continue to improve.

Help us recognize our Safety Committee members:

Chairperson: Tanner Maddison
Chair Elect: Hunter Spann
Committee Members:
Tanner Maddison
Nathan Hill
Wade Brown
Jonathan Burford
Jonathan Hernandez
Hunter Spann
Robert Hamilton
Brent Rich
Wayne Philippi
Tyler Miller

They serve as a direct link between our crews and management, helping ensure safety remains a shared responsibility across Direct Traffic Control. We are thankful for the crew members who step up, speak up, and help protect the people around them.

Because at the end of the day, the goal is always the same: everyone goes home safely.

June is National Safety Month, and this week we’re highlighting our Daily Job Hazard Analysis, also known as a JHA.

Before the first cone is set or the first truck moves, our crews take time to identify hazards, talk through the plan, and make sure everyone is on the same page.

A JHA is more than paperwork. It is a daily reminder that every job has risks, every voice matters, and everyone deserves to go home safe. 🧡

For National Work Zone Awareness Week, we are proud to shine a light on Joshua Girdner in our Safety Spotlight.

Joshua shared that what he likes most about his job is that it has greatly improved the quality of life for him and his family. Outside of work, he enjoys gaming and computers.

When asked what safety tip he would give a coworker, Joshua said, “Stay alert and never become complacent.” That same mindset is reflected in what working safely means to him: staying alert and preventing harm to himself, his crew, and the public.

That is what this week is all about. Real work. Real people. Real risks.

Thank you, Joshua, for the work you do and for helping keep safety front and center every day.

To close out Go Orange Day, we had to bring it home with our own crew!

Thank you to everyone who wore orange, shared a post, stopped by, and helped us shine a bigger light on the importance of slowing down, staying alert, and protecting the men and women working on our roadways.
