I feel the need to address a “review” Dock dudes recently received from someone who we have never actually done any work for. We were hired to do a professional assessment of a seawall as a part of a potential home buyers due diligence. Upon arrival we found a wall in so much disrepair it was one of the worst ones we’ve seen still standing in all our years of marine construction. I documented everything and these are the photos from the wall assessment. As you can see, there is significant vegetation growing THROUGH the old wall, the posts/deadmen have failed and leaned out beyond the walls face, there are sinkholes from washout undermining the yard , and the elevation of the wall varies 6” from à level plane from the wall both falling outward AND sinking into the ground.
The selling homeowner says it Is fine, there is nothing wrong and that it’s “100% repairable” and that I “erroneously condemned his seawall and cost him the sale of the home”-So he left a review saying I was dishonest and unethical. The wall is not just failed-it’s BEYOND the point of where anyone else would have replaced it, especially if they were looking to sell their house. We did nothing but provide an honest assessment of a bad-very bad- seawall. After the assessment was made, The buying agent asked me to include a cost to replace it, so I resent the assessment with a replacement cost included. The selling owner is under the impression that i condemned his wall only in an “attempt to make a sale”.
