Fires in the home become more common around the holidays (peaking in December). Here are some things to consider as we approach the holiday season:

1. Does your family know how to re-act should a fire occur in the middle of the night?
2. Do you have a fire extinguisher in the home? Does everyone know how to use it?
3. Do you have smoke detectors in the appropriate places?
4. Finally, replace the batteries in your smoke detectors if you can't recall the last time
they were replaced.

Appliance leaks, though often overlooked, can wreak havoc if left unchecked, causing water damage, mold growth, and even posing safety hazards. Understanding the causes, signs, and preventive measures associated with appliance leaks is paramount to
safeguarding our homes and ensuring the longevity of our appliances.

• Regularly inspect for signs of wear, rust, or corrosion.
• Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines.
• Replace worn or damaged hoses, connectors, and seals.
• Install water leak detection devices near appliances.
• Position appliances with water connections away from walls and
flooring that are susceptible to water damage.
• Use drip pans or trays underneath appliances to catch and
contain leaks, especially in areas with sensitive flooring materials.
• Avoid overloading appliances.
• Turn off water supply valves to appliances when not in use for
extended periods.
• Educate household members about proper appliance usage.

Happy Tuesday everyone! I wanted to take a moment with the weather to share a bit about my new position with ServiceMaster Pineywoods. We are a disaster restoration company which means we can help you with any water damage, fire damage, mold or smoke damage.
If you have any water damage in your home, whether from a roof leak, a water heater leaking, AC leak, or any other issues we can help. Your homeowner’s insurance will probably cover the vast majority, if not all, of the work. We work closely with all major insurance carriers and are preferred partners/vendors with almost all of them. This means we bill them directly and they pay us. If you have any issues call me directly at 936-234-7350 (if you have my cell number - you can still reach me there this is just my work direct line). I can get a certified technician to your home or business quickly and we can take moisture readings to determine what needs to be done. We often arrive before your insurance adjuster and then call them to discuss once they’ve been assigned. If you file a claim before calling me just tell them ServiceMaster is your vendor of choice. If you call me first I can assist in getting your claim assigned to us once you have your claim number. Either way, I’d be honored to assist you in a time of need. A disaster of any type is horribly stressful and we pride ourselves on taking at least some small part of that stress off your shoulders. As the Manager for the greater Nacogdoches/Lufkin office our service area stretches south of Livingston to just North Henderson and all the way to the Louisiana Border.
