Our office will be closed on Friday, July 24 so that our Nantucket Energy family may attend the funeral of Philip Marks Jr. the beloved father of our owner, Philip Marks III.

Philip was a lifelong Nantucketer who devoted 34 years of service to the Nantucket Electric Company. He was also a familiar and valued presence at Nantucket Energy, stopping by the office each week and supporting his son and our team in his own thoughtful way. His dedication to his family, his community, and the energy industry leaves a long-lasting legacy.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Phil and the entire Marks family. We appreciate our customers’ understanding and will reopen during regular business hours on Monday.

We’re expecting very cold temperatures and a 40% chance of snow this weekend, continuing into next week.
Nantucket Energy is here for you 24/7 for heating and plumbing needs — but we need your help to ensure timely service:
✅ Driveways must be plowed so our technicians can safely access your property
✅ Create and maintain a clear path to your propane tanks
✅ Propane tank access must be completely clear — if it isn’t, our technicians won’t be able to refill your tanks
✅ Remote tank readers must be clear of snow so we can accurately monitor your propane levels
✅ Check outdoor heating vents to make sure snow drifts aren’t blocking proper ventilation

Before the next Snow event arrives, here are a few Important steps to take!

• Clear driveways and access paths to propane tanks so our delivery trucks can reach your property safely.
• Clear the area around underground tanks and gently offset the tank cover so it does not freeze to the ground.
• Check your propane tank level whenever possible. Tank monitors may have difficulty transmitting if buried under snow.
• Clear all exterior vents to ensure proper system operation and safety.

If you anticipate needing assistance with snow removal, we recommend planning ahead. A quick Google search for “snow removal on Nantucket” can help you identify local services before the storm arrives—especially important in case power or communications are disrupted during severe weather.
