Our vision is quickly becoming a reality. 💚

With each step of construction, it's easier to imagine the countless animals whose lives will be forever changed within these walls.

The new RG CARES Animal Shelter is being thoughtfully designed to support animal welfare, enhance the adoption experience, and better serve our community for years to come.

October is Fire Prevention Month. 🔥

Proper disposal plays an important role in fire safety. Items such as lithium batteries, propane tanks, fireworks, and hot ashes should never be placed in your household trash or recycling bin.

Knowing how to dispose of these materials properly helps protect sanitation workers, waste facilities, and our community.

Please visit our Household Hazardous Waste Facility webpage and view our brochure to learn where, how, and why to properly dispose of hazardous waste in Rockland County: https://loom.ly/KCYtpj4

A cleaner environment benefits everyone — including wildlife.

This World Animal Day, remember that properly disposing of waste helps keep parks, waterways, and neighborhoods cleaner for the animals that call them home.

From birds and fish to countless other species, we can all make a difference for the wildlife that depends on us to help keep their home clean. 💚

Rockland Green’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility has been recognized by PaintCare for helping collect more than 89,853 gallons of leftover paint for reuse, recycling, and proper disposal!

This accomplishment reflects our continued commitment to making responsible paint disposal accessible to Rockland County residents while helping keep leftover paint out of landfills and conserve valuable resources.

Thank you to our residents for doing your part and helping us reach this incredible milestone — and to PaintCare for recognizing our efforts and continued partnership.

Here’s to keeping Rockland County green, one gallon at a time! 💚

October is Subaru Loves Pets Month! 🐾

Rockland Green is proud to partner with the ASPCA and Subaru as part of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, helping shine a light on shelter animals and the importance of finding loving homes for pets in need.

Throughout October, we’ll be highlighting this partnership, sharing updates from the RG CARES Animal Shelter, and showing how our community can help make a difference.

Stay tuned all month long as we celebrate those who make our lives better and help them find the homes they deserve. ❤️

Back-to-school routines are back — and so are the lunchboxes. 🍏

Before everything gets tossed in the trash after school, take a moment to look at what’s left behind. Can that empty yogurt container be recycled? Can those food scraps be composted? Can a snack bag or container be reused?

Taking a few extra seconds to sort through your child’s lunchbox properly can help reduce unnecessary waste and keep recyclable and compostable materials out of the landfill.

♻️ Rockland's Recycling Myth vs. Fact

Myth: It's okay to put food containers in the recycling bin with food still inside.

Fact: Food and liquids can contribute to contaminating other recyclable materials and create hiccups during the recycling process. We ask that containers are emptied and get a quick rinse before placing them in your recycling bin.

A cleaner recycling bin means better recycling.
