The inaugural Santa Cruz Marathon weekend is just 2 months away!

The 7th race in the 2026 Golden State Challenge, and the newest addition to the series, will undoubtedly be one for the books. From rugged coastlines to mixed terrain to redwood trees, it's going to be a stunning course.

More than 80 runners will be picking up their Golden State Challenge medals after crossing the finish line of the marathon, half marathon, or the 5K. New race and a new medal? That seems like a pretty great combo to us!

Like every runner, Wesley had a very personal reason to begin his running journey. Reclaiming his body and seeing what he could accomplish, Wesley crossed not one, not two, not three, but ALL of the Golden State Challenge finish lines.

GSC is more than 9 races across California, it’s the incredible community of runners who show up, set goals, chase milestones, and inspire each other along the way.

The countdown until the next Golden State Challenge event (and the next round of runners who will earn their GSC medals) is on! Just over a month until Surf City 10, the 5th race in the 2026 series.

A flat and fast course along PCH, this race offers multiple distance options, beautiful scenery, and thousands of other runners lining up to accomplish the same goals: have fun and cross the finish line.

The Long Beach Marathon weekend is just over 6 weeks away, and it's completely SOLD OUT! Marathon? Sold out. Half marathon? Sold out. 5K? Sold out. Over 29,000 runners will be taking to the streets of Long Beach to chase their goals and chase that finish line.

Long Beach is the 6th race in the 2026 GSC series, and there are over 250 runners set to earn their Golden State Challenge medal after crossing the finish line. (Wowza!) It's going to be a busy weekend, full of lots of hardware.

We know not every mile is going to have you grinning from ear-to-ear or jumping for joy. Sometimes the early mornings, sore legs, and cranky knees catch up to us. Part of running is learning to navigate and overcome obstacles: how can you learn to take care of your body better? There's nothing quite like the feeling of seeing your own name on the name wall on race weekend. Your name is the reminder that you did it: you signed up, you showed up in your training, you showed up on race weekend, and you showed up for yourself!

One of the best parts of the Golden State Challenge is the adventures it will take you on: one race you're running through the city streets of San Francisco, the next you're running along the beach, the next you're sipping world-famous vino in California wine country.

How you shape your Golden State Challenge journey is completely up to you: run 4 events of 5K distance or greater to complete the challenge and earn your medal!
