Etude Wines

Etude Wines Perfecting Pinot from Ground to Glass. Must be 21+ to follow. Enjoy responsibly. Etude, which in French means “study,” is the vision of founder Tony Soter.
(755)

His interest was to make wines that would satisfy discerning consumers of California wine while deepening his understanding of the winemaker’s craft and the creative process. Today, winemaker Jon Priest strongly believes and lives out Etude’s founding philosophy. This has allowed for the continual cultivation of the highest quality wines, reflective of the profound influences of the land and the

season, as well as the hand of its steward; hence, the concept of winegrowing. Etude specializes in a selection of white and two classic red varietals—Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Though modeled on the best from Burgundy and Bordeaux, these wines speak clearly of their contemporary California origins, combining rich, ripe fruit with an elegant structure and opulent mouthfeel.

POV: you finally found a wine tasting spot where your dog is just as welcome as you are 🐾🍷

At Etude, dogs are always welcome on our outdoor patio. Wine country days are better when the whole crew comes along.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting at Etude, and she was the very best guest.

We’ve been keeping a BIG secret! 🌿

Etude is featured in Stem & Barrel: Napa Valley, a new documentary capturing the 2025 harvest and the people behind it. The documentary premieres Saturday, June 6 on Discovery, Cooking Channel and streaming on discovery+.

You’ll see Senior Winemaker Jon Priest and the our team in the heart of harvest - guiding the next generation and shaping Carneros Pinot Noir from our Grace Benoist Ranch in real time.

This is Napa Valley as we know it: early mornings, long days, and the rhythm from vineyard to cellar.

Dreaming of slow evenings, farmers market trips, outdoor games, and wine poured generously all summer long.

What does your perfect summer look like?

It starts in the vineyard.

In Carneros, every season, every block, and every decision shapes how our Pinot Noir expresses itself.

Cheers to National Wine Day!

Sunshine, Pinot Noir, vineyard walks, and pizza fresh from the oven. A few favorite moments from our Vineyard Lunch at Grace Benoist Ranch. It’s always the perfect spot to gather and celebrate 🍷

The textures of summer are simple, fresh, and worth slowing down for. Cool water over just-picked greens. Fresh basil from the garden. Sunlight across the patio table.

A season built around ingredients that speak for themselves, much like the wines beside them.

Earth Day in San Francisco with PlanetHAUS felt like a glimpse of what’s possible 🌱

We partnered with PlanetHAUS at The Battery during Climate Week, pouring Grace Benoist Ranch Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The setting brought together a community actively rethinking how we live, build, and connect.

Grateful for the conversations and everyone who stopped by to share a (100% compostable!) glass with us.

Spend a summer day with us.🌞

Enjoy our tasting experiences on the patio, explore the estate gardens, and discover wines shaped by the Carneros landscape.

We’re exploring what a more circular future for wine could look like. 🍃

Through a small pilot with Revino, we’re testing how bottle reuse might help reduce our impact.

If you’re visiting us or enjoy our wines, you’re invited to bring back your empty bottle and be part of the experiment! 🌿
