Ashes & Diamonds Winery is a love letter to Napa as it was when it first took the world stage in the 1960s. Located at the gateway to the Valley, along its main artery Highway 29, Ashes & Diamonds’ mid-century approach extends seamlessly through its viticulture, winemaking, and architecture. The resulting wines are a wide-ranging convergence of modern and old-school flavors, all of which adhere to an ethos of light-handed winemaking and transparency of terroir.

Cabernet Franc is like a Chet Baker record. Everybody says they love it, but very few are willing to stay up late enough to understand it.
 
Cabernet Franc doesn’t hide behind brute force. It’s perfume and graphite. Violet, to***co leaf, crushed herbs, red fruit and the faint sense that you may have accidentally become more interesting while drinking it. It’s the anti-bodybuilder of Napa reds. Less steroid convention, more Serge Gainsbourg in a suede jacket.
 
And because it’s difficult to grow well in Napa, almost nobody bothers. Tiny acreage. Tiny yields. Huge payoff when done correctly. Which is exactly why we’ve been obsessed with it since day one.
 
While the valley spent two decades building Cabernet Sauvignon that could survive re-entry from space, Ashes & Diamonds quietly led the charge on Cabernet Franc: fresher, finer-boned, more civilized, less “oak punishment device.” The kind of wine that doesn’t shout wealth across the table. It just already knows.
