Tasting room is open daily 10a-3p (by appointment) Farming Zinfandel is a Biale family tradition that dates back to the early days of Napa. Today, Aldo Biale's vineyard is one of several historic sites from which Robert Biale Vineyards produces some of California's finest Zinfandels. Rarely found in stores, the small production Biale Zinfandels are obtained from the winery and are featured in America's finest restaurants. In addition to Zinfandel, Biale produces a series of blockbuster wines from another of California's great original varieties - Petite Sirah.

Gaudi Carli planted this vineyard just outside Calistoga in 1920. More than 100 years later, it's Napa's oldest Barbera vineyard, and it's still in the family. His daughter, the late Marie Torrigino, carried it forward, and today her son Steve, daughter-in-law Joyce, and Gaudi's great-grandson Joe Vanni are the stewards of the land. That's Napa as it was.

Before Napa Valley was a tourist destination, it was built on farmers leaning on farmers. That's the Napa Bob Biale and Rich Salvestrin grew up in, as neighbors and friends who always had each other's backs. Earlier this year, Rich sat down with Bob for our Napa As It Was film series to remember those days. We all love the Old Kraft Zinfandel, and now for the first time ever we are releasing an Old Kraft Vineyard Petite Sirah!

Bill and Margie Hart saved these original 1890s vines on their St. Helena estate rather than tearing them out, and Bob was brought in to help bring them back. Since 2006 we have made a Zinfandel from this special site, and now we finally get to share what these same soils do with Petite Sirah.

63 cases produced. It is a gratifying feeling knowing we helped save a piece of Napa Valley history, and we hope you love it as much as we do…to see Napa through our lens.

We are finished picking fruit for the 2026 harvest! We never thought we would be writing these words mid-September, but here we are. This year’s harvest was an interesting one, with two significant heat spikes pushing picks to happen sooner than originally expected. We moved quickly, made the calls, and trusted the fruit. Now the work in the cellar continues!
