Decanter is talking about us…making history!

California led the US to its best-ever performance at Decanter World Wine Awards 2026, taking home a record 162 medals across every category.

Napa's Clos du Val claimed Best in Show for the third year running with its 2023 Yettalil Bordeaux blend, while newcomers made just as much noise: AvinoDos became only the second US sparkling wine ever to earn Platinum, and tiny Mendocino producer Brashley picked up a Platinum for a Pinot Noir judges called "sophisticated" with "a European accent."

Beyond the classics, California's Assyrtiko and Moschofilero impressed judges with real freshness and a genuine sense of place, a sign the conversation around US wine quality is expanding fast. See the full round-up of winners. 🏆🍷

Out of more than 17,000 wines entered from around the world, only 7 Platinum Medals were awarded in North America. Our 2022 AvinoDos Blanc de Blanc Extra Brut Sparkling earned 97 points and a Platinum Medal, making it only the second California sparkling wine in Decanter history to achieve both. Since 1981, Auction Napa Valley has invested more than $245 million in local nonprofits, programs, and community initiatives throughout Napa Valley.

This year’s proceeds will support the Napa Valley Vintners’ Youth Wellness Initiative, helping provide safe spaces, after-school engagement, and family support services for local youth and families.
