"Honey, those people are on the phone again wanting to buy our winery."
And so it started, the dialogue we thought would never happen.
The buyers are Chinese and the nicest people you'd ever meet. A young couple with kids and he's a very high profile technology executive.
It all happened so fast. And when it came time to leave the keys on the kitchen counter, reality hit home.
We are now moving on in life. It has been almost ten years since we stood on top of the hill and looked at the 856 vines. Linda dreamed of making the house bigger and Vito dreamed about a cave.
The most fun was always having our harvest party and all the great friends we have. The ego part is certainly something you can only relate to if you live it.
Walking in to Don Giovanni's, Angele or the Bounty Hunter and the staff jumps. "Oh Mr. Bialla, welcome sir!" With a bottle of wine sticking out of your pocket it does make you feel like you are living the dream.
Linda always loved being up there and always slept better there then anywhere in the world. The peace, the quiet, the hawks in the spring, the frogs at night. It all said love your life and love this environment.
So what this means is that the 2010 and 2011 will not be bottled by us but will have a new label and be primarily sent overseas to China.
We will continue to sell out the rest of our 2008 (almost gone) and our 2009.
Of course Vito will have a nice private stash for his personal use as well.
