5 of our top interview tips to help you land your next dream role
1. Be prepared & Take Notes. Research the company and familiarize yourself with the job description. Know exactly why you are interested in the company and the role.
2. Have questions prepared ahead of time. The worst thing you can do is not ask a question when an interviewer leaves time during the interview for you to ask questions. When formulating your questions, focus your questions around the company itself, the culture (or team culture if interviewing internally) and most importantly ask questions about the role.
Examples:
- What have you enjoyed most about working for ABC company?
- Why has this role become available?
- Can you tell me about the company/team culture?
- Who does this position report to?
- What would you like to see accomplished in the first 90 days?
3. When interacting with company representatives i.e. Recruiters, Hiring Managers, Human Resources, etc., show a genuine interest in the position throughout the entire interview process, even if you are an internal candidate.
4. Confidently articulate your skill sets beyond what's on your resume. Make it easy for others to recognize your transferable skills.
5. ALWAYS send a follow up Thank You email to the interviewer(s). Thank them for their time and express excitement and interests in the company/team/role. Showcase your confidence to perform the job duties well and state that you are looking forward to the next steps in the process.
