Stay vigilant with the incoming heat. Also if your battery has gone past five years in your back up sump pump, it’s time to update it. Seeing units we put in 9 years ago with the same battery. Battery life at 50% at 9 years old. Get on the schedule for late July or early August.

ALERT: WE HAVE JUST ISSUED A SWAMP ASS WATCH…IN EFFECT NOW THRU JULY 4TH.

A big boy heat dome is currently setting up camp in the east half of the U.S. Heat Indices could reach a disrespectful 103+ degrees in many areas Sunday thru Saturday, gradually shifting further east throughout the week.

This could lead to potentially extreme and prolonged levels of swamp ass across the orange highlighted area. For the areas in magenta, we’ve issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Swamp Ass Watch, where impacts look to be the greatest.

FOR YOUR PROTECTION:
- Stay in areas of shade
- Avoid sitting in the heat
- If nothing works, activate “Screw It Mode” and safely dump a bucket of water on yourself.
- If that still doesn’t work, the probability of being SOL becomes high.

A level 4 has just been issued by the NWS. This means several, long track tornadoes are expected. Max intensity of EF-3.

Now is time to prepare. Time is a few storms after 2PM; then widespread after 6PM in north central IL.

Absolutely take precautions with the incoming cold front. Several days below zero can wreak havoc with burst pipes. Get space heaters going safely in drafty areas, turn up the heat, leave cabinet doors open, and those closet doors in the basement that are generally closed should be opened for ambient air to enter. Know where your main water shut off is and even keep known problem faucets trickling if you have to. This is going to be a several day stretch of severe cold! 🥶

Good advice

As the snow starts piling up, take a moment to walk around your home and clear any vents or meters. Snow-covered furnace, dryer, or water-heater exhausts can force dangerous carbon monoxide back into your house, and a buried gas meter can lead to serious issues no one wants to deal with in the middle of winter. A few minutes with a shovel now can prevent a much bigger problem later.
