Away Home Watch will be here for you if a hurricane does form and head our way. But remember rule #7 - don’t freak out!
Hurricane Season 101:
1. If you're new to our area (or you need a refresher course), here are a few things to remember.
2. We are in for a busy couple of months in the tropics. We all know this. If you haven't been listening, now is probably the time to do so. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
3. This blob in yellow hasn't even developed yet. There are a TON of things that will go against every single possible system in the Atlantic. Shear, dry air, land, etc. Expect NUMEROUS track changes over a 4 to 7 day stretch.
4. In dealing with Florida, it's even tougher. A slight move to the right, keeps any storm East of the state. A slight move to the West, takes it into the Gulf. There is absolutely NO way a storm coming in at this angle can be forecasted with exact precision this far out. With any storms, the odds are extremely certainly low of actual direct impact on our area.
5. Occasionally, there might be a storm we are very confident in its track a week out. THIS, is not one of them. (If it even forms in the first place)
6. So, my message is the same as its been for the past few months. Make a plan. If we need to react to what would be "Debby" in a week or so, we will do so. At this point, as is the case with MOST systems that could threaten Florida, the direct threat to the Bay Area is low.
7. Rule #7. Don't freak out until I tell you to. We're fine.
