🌀 5PM CONE - The new NHC track shifts east again, calling for Ian to make landfall on the Charlotte/Sarasota county border as a CAT 4 Wednesday Night. Life threatening impacts are expected in SW FL, including devastating surge & destructive winds.

Latest storm update…Everyone be safe!

11 AM CONE - The new NHC track shifts east again, calling for Ian to make landfall in Sarasota county as a major hurricane Wednesday Night.
Much of SW Florida is in the cone, so a direct hit as far south as Fort Myers is possible.

Ian seam to me moving a little further west, but we should still be very alert for this one.

Sunday 11AM advisory with new forecast cone:

Not much change with this forecast. A little more of SW Florida nudged out of cone. NHC continues to highlight high uncertainty 4-5 day out, and we still have some computer models showing a more east track. Not out of the woods yet, so we'll continue to watch closely.

Keep in mind, still with a track that keeps offshore of us, the main threats will be on the east side of this system. So even if this went into the Panhandle, we'd still feel some impacts. Specifics are to-be-determined. Should know more by tomorrow.

Latest update on Ian

11 AM CONE: Latest from the National Hurricane Center continues a further shift westward in the approaching track of future hurricane .
This is now forecast to reach Major Category 3 strength by the time it meets Cuba and continuing at this strength as it crosses the Gulf of Mexico and approaches the FL Peninsula before making landfall as a Category 2 storm.

That time of the year…lets keep an look out for this one!

Tropical Update: Florida and the Gulf Coast should monitor Invest 98L very closely over the coming days. 🌀👀

There is high model consistency that this disturbance will organize into a named storm as it enters into the Caribbean Sea. Upper level steering will then likely take this *somewhere* into the Gulf of Mexico next week. Long range forecast accuracy will improve significantly after a closed low pressure system is found. Now is a great time to review your hurricane plan.
