Dryer vent cleaning is essential at least once a year. Clean more often if you do large amounts of laundry, you have a long and/or angled dryer duct or if you notice any of the following warning signs.

* Laundry takes longer to dry than usual.
* Clothes are hot when you take them out.
* Your lint screen collects more gunk than normal.
* The dryer exterior is hot (not just warm) to the touch.
* Air in laundry room feels exceptionally warm/or humid.
* You detect a smell of scorching or burning near dryer.
* Outside dryer vent is lint blocked. (External screens should
not be used on outside venting)

The US Fire Marshall Administration reports annual injuries and death with over $35,000,000 in property loss from dryer fires. The leading cause of dryer fires? Quite simply, failure to clean venting behind the dryer. Actual photos taken from an Isles home after one year of use.
