New Rotorcraft Collective Video Helps Pilots Understand the Effects of OTC Meds

Pilots: Some over-the-counter medication could impact your ability to operate an aircraft safely. Diphenhydramine, for example, is often detected in the system of pilots who've had accidents. Before you liftoff, wait a period of five times the dosing interval of the medication to ensure it is out of your system. Check out this and other videos in our Rotorcraft Collective series here: https://bit.ly/RotorYT.

Jet Fuel Contaminated with DEF
Notice Number: NOTC3542

Jet Fuel Contaminated with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).

The FAA has identified four cases of DEF contamination affecting multiple turbine engine aircraft. Three of those events occurred in the United States and one in Brazil. In all cases, the affected aircraft experienced in-flight operational malfunctions, such as un commanded in-flight engine shutdown, resulting in emergency landings. In these cases, DEF was inadvertently confused with fuel system icing inhibitor (FSII) when servicing refueling vehicles.

Please obtain the Latest SAFO 18015 REV 1 dated 5/19/23. The Copy of this SAFO on DRS is not current. A current copy is attached to this Notice. Or, you can contact the AED with questions or concerns at: 9-AVS-AFS- [email protected] (attention Propulsion Systems).

HOW COMFORTABLE IS YOUR LIFESTYLE??

Holidays and celebrations most times could define the class/caste system in society. For example the poor and middle-class make news years resolutions while the wealthy make fiscal policies (which doesn’t necessarily begin in January). If your to go by the capitalist order of things.

In order for your New Year’s resolution to be effective, you have to implement it by or before month of October for practical application. Businesses and companies put there’s into effect by November (or October) and do not bound themselves to the expectation of New years day. which is also known as their fiscal year. These includes businesses in which their operations rely on global trade.

The middle-class, which constitutes most of consumer population, on the other hand have their plans and spendings focused around holidays and events, where most of the spending goes like Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays (sometimes anniversaries if it’s significant enough)

Moreover, January the first is considered a holiday. So you cannot implement a practical professional New Year’s resolution to take effect on that day.

The middle-class work all year round to celebrate Christmas and some other family and religious holidays. The lower middle-class are those who struggle to keep up, but still make it.

The upper middle class would be those who can afford the holidays and festivities but doesn’t necessarily make them rich or wealthy per se. They are well planned and earn enough to celebrate festivities as well as plan their lifestyle events around their festivities.

Then you have the entrepreneurs (like me), who live and make decisions at the edge of financial independence. Festivities doesn’t seem to be on their priority list. Their goals and ambitions come first, before celebrations. Its not that they don't care or are nonchalant towards celebrations. They are more process oriented and resilient towards their work over celebrations.

The most comfortable of all these people, are the ones who live on a percentage of their income and not on a specific amount. If your lifestyle is based on living on a percentage of what you make, you will be more financially adaptable even with less. Wealthy person with a high debt profile, may be in a worse situation than a poor person who lives on a percentage of their income.

The FAA has just launched a new safety tool, Approach Runway Verification (ARV), to improve safety at airports across the nation. This tool provides controllers with visual and audible alerts if an approaching aircraft is lined up to land on the wrong airport surface, or even the wrong airport.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is the latest tower to start using this safety technology, ensuring a safer National Airspace System. This is a tool provided to controllers to improve situation awareness of the airport surface which is an additional to the general safety of aircrafts, especially in low-visibility.

ARV is currently installed at several air traffic control towers, including:
Austin (AUS)
Lincoln Tower (LNK)
Elton Hensley (FTT)
Lansing (LAN)
DuPage (DPA)
Chicago Executive (PWK)
Tallahassee (TLH)
Cedar Rapids (CID)
Branson West Municipal (FWB)
Gerald Ford International (GRR)
Elkhart Municipal (EKM)
South Bend (SBN)
M. Graham Clark Downtown Airport (PLK)

The FAA plans to deploy the technology at various other facilities till 2025.

"ARV is one of the three surface situational awareness solutions that make up the FAA’s fast-tracked surface safety portfolio. The other tools are the Runway Incursion Device (RID) and the Surface Awareness Initiative (SAI). These technologies are agile, efficient and cost-effective". - FAA

The Government and Regulators also have to look into Education and General Aviation Operations. It's one of the biggest expenses by Nigerians. That can be a key in saving the dollar costs. Aircrafts rely on crude-oil and also a major factor in the global prices. Transportation is inevitable and all aircrafts must buy fuel. Price hedging on crude oil prices is common strategy used by airlines to secure the prices of fuel for a Long period of time in order to have the security of prices.

Nigerians spend billions on Education in foreign countries and can be a potential deal maker for the government if the regulations are set in favour of the students, if calculating the the volume of foreign exchanges.

12-years ago Standard Pilot Flight Training in Nigeria at was just over N12million (excluding accommodations and feeding). At that time forex was about N$1/128 blackmarket and N158 at CBN rates. After the conversions the total would be about $97,000.00

In the United States, the cost of a CPL was about $36,000 - $45,000 at about the same time. About 6-8 Million Naira.

In 2024 using the approximate figures. $36,000 would equate to N56million Naira white NCAT in Zaria still advertises at N12million, however the global requirements for flight training has gone up in the last 10 years to about $96,000 that's over N150million in today's rates.

Now the question how comparable is a N12 million Naira training compared to N150 million Naira training. Providing a service for less than 10% of its original value doesn't seem balanced and well regulated.

Air Peace Airlines 🇳🇬 Student Discount - Terms and Conditions for London Route. From website search data, the destination is London-Gatwick International Airport. The recent route announcement estimated the return ticket to be N1.2m Naira which is a fair market price compared to competing operators on the same route, with a 15% discount for Nigerian students, under the age of 25, studying abroad. The Air Peace economy estimates would be of better value than comparable airlines if the flights are direct non-stop flights.

(See document below) 📄

The business-class return ticket estimate for N4m. Which is 25% (N1.3m) Naira cheaper than competing starting prices of N5.3m. That’s a discounted deal for international business travelers.

📈Comparisons are based on 2-week return flight itinerary from Abuja, Nigeria (ABV) to London-Gatwick (LGW) with 1-week booking lead time. Current currency exchange price at posting $1/N1516.00📉

However, prices not booked or purchased are usually subject to change depending on demand and availability. Always make sure you understand your consumer/customer rights and privileges and Air travel safety information. Pricing using agents could also incure booking and agency fees, which could off-set the savings.

Feel free to reach out for travel management services and Aircraft Charter. I’m committed to going you relevant air travel information for your convenience and helping you with your bookings.
