We installed new technology into 20 Science Department classrooms at Phillips Exeter Academy that standardized and simplified the original 15 year old equipment.

Our installation included a fully digital HDMI and VGA switching extenders, a Crestron button panel with an integrated control processor, a Panasonic 1080p lampless laser/LED hybrid projector, and Apple TV and Miracast to allow for wireless or wired presentations.

When audio visual systems are functioning correctly, they appear to be relatively simple. However, what most people don’t see are the delicate electronic components that ensure that your video and audio look and sound their best. These electronics experience quite a bit of stress and, over time, can malfunction or fail. This is especially true of cables, connections, and ports that are continually being connected and disconnected. Some parts, such as wall plates and floor boxes face the additional stress of being stepped on or bumped over and over.

Without preventative maintenance, audio visual system issues catch us by surprise. When a problem hits, there is seldom time to get it resolved before it is too late.

This room had an existing system installed in 2010 using Crestron’s original DigitalMedia solution. The client needed the existing podium in the room to be replaced. Additionally, whenever the podium was moved the connections at the floor box were often disconnected. Fewer connections at the floor box were requested by the customer.

Our solution was to design and install a local DMPS switcher into the new podium. This reduced the number of wires from the equipment rack to the podium from nine to two.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to assist a recent town hall meeting with their audio-visual needs. The meeting was a success, and we are so happy to have played a role in making it possible.

We provided the two screens (and projectors) to allow more people in the room to see the presentation. In addition, we provided wired and wireless mics that were used by both the presenters and attendees who had questions.
