💙 Building an Analytical Legacy: Moving from Data Producers to Strategic Partners 💙

❓ The Question Every Analytical Unit Must Ask: “What Are We Building?”

For years, many analytical job descriptions have focused on what analysts do:

✔ Research crime
✔ Create reports
✔ Build maps
✔ Update databases
✔ Prepare statistics

And those tasks matter.

But a question every agency leader should ask is:

Are we building a team that produces information… or a team that transforms decisions?

Because the true value of an analytical unit is not found in the number of reports created.

It is found in the decisions changed.

A purpose-driven analytical unit helps answer four critical questions:

What is happening?
🔎 Turning data into understanding.

Why is it happening?
📈 Identifying patterns, risks, and contributing factors.

What should we do?
🎯 Providing recommendations, not just observations.

Did it work?
📊 Evaluating outcomes and improving strategies.

The future of analytics is not about producing more information.

It is about creating better decisions.

That is how you move from being a support function…

to becoming a strategic partner.

🌟 Have you ever finished presenting a report... and wondered if anyone would actually remember it?🌟

Not whether they liked the charts.

Not whether the data was accurate.

But whether your presentation changed the conversation.

I've learned something after nearly three decades of working with crime analysts:

The analysts who make the biggest impact aren't always the ones with the most sophisticated analysis.

They're the ones who can answer three simple questions:

➡️ Why does this matter?
➡️ Who does it affect?
➡️ What should we do next?

That's the difference between reporting information and influencing decisions.

That's why I created 👉 Making Numbers Count: Transform Crime Data into Stories That Influence Decisions.

This on-demand training is designed to help you move beyond presenting statistics and start communicating insights that command staff, city leaders, and stakeholders will remember.

Included:
📘 Downloadable Workbook
🤖 AI Storytelling Prompt Guide (50+ prompts)
🎥 30-Minute Webinar Recording

Because your analysis deserves more than a quick glance before someone moves on to the next slide.

It deserves to drive action.

Most people are using AI at 10% of its potential.

They ask questions.

They get answers.

And they stop there.

But AI can do so much more.

It can help you:

✔ Build repeatable workflows
✔ Automate time-consuming processes
✔ Create custom AI assistants
✔ Analyze data
✔ Generate ideas
✔ Improve reports and presentations
✔ Help you create tools without being a programmer

The difference between someone who “uses AI” and someone who truly leverages AI is understanding how to turn AI into a partner.

That’s the focus of the AI Micro-Training Series.

A 12-week, hands-on program where you learn by building.

And because AI keeps changing, graduates continue receiving new content through the AI subscription, including new innovations like:

🚀 The AI Innovation Lab
📊 ChatGPT + VBA Excel Dashboard Automation

Don’t just learn about AI.

Learn how to use it.

The difference between a good analyst and an influential analyst isn't always technical ability.

It's communication.

I've watched analysts spend days building outstanding reports...
..only to have decision-makers remember one chart.

Or worse...

Nothing at all.

If your goal is to become indispensable to your agency, your ability to communicate may matter just as much as your ability to analyze.

That's why I created **Making Numbers Count**.

Inside this training you'll learn how to:
✔️ Explain complex crime trends in plain language.
✔️ Create memorable narratives.
✔️ Use AI to accelerate report writing without sacrificing accuracy.
✔️ Help leaders understand what the numbers actually mean.

You'll receive:
🎥 Webinar recording
📘 Downloadable workbook
🤖 AI Storytelling Prompt Guide with 50+ prompts

The most powerful person in the room isn't always the one with the most data.

It's the one who can make the data mean something.

Imagine it's your next CompStat meeting.

Instead of reading through slides...

People are asking questions.

🌟 Making Numbers Count🌟 was created to help crime analysts bridge the gap between analysis and influence.

In less than an hour, you'll learn practical techniques you can apply to:

Creating Margin 🌿

Margin is what separates survival mode from sustainable performance.

It’s the buffer between what is planned and what is real.
The space that absorbs pressure without breaking you.

Most overwhelm doesn’t come from too much work.
It comes from too little margin.

No room for delays.
No room for thinking.
No room for being human inside the system.

When margin exists, everything changes.

You can absorb unexpected cases without spiraling.
You can think instead of react.
You can lead instead of chase. 🧭

Margin is not inefficiency.
It is resilience built into your day.

👉 This week, intentionally leave 10–20% of your schedule unassigned. Protect it like a priority, not an option.

Because margin is where stability lives.

I once asked a room full of analysts...

**"What happens after you send your report?"**

Most answered the same way.

"I don't know."

That answer has stayed with me.

Analysts spend hours collecting, cleaning, validating, and interpreting data.

Yet many never learn whether their work actually influenced a decision.

Not because the analysis wasn't valuable.

Because the story wasn't memorable.

Communication is often the missing link between good analysis and organizational impact.

That's why I developed 🌟 Making Numbers Count🌟 to help analysts communicate findings in ways that command staff, elected officials, and stakeholders immediately understand.

If you've ever wondered how to increase your influence without changing your data...

This training is for you.

Creating White Space 🤍

Most professionals don’t need more time.
They need more space inside the time they already have.

White space is not laziness.
It’s not inefficiency.
It’s where clarity returns.

It’s the 10 minutes between meetings where you don’t immediately refill the gap.
It’s the moment after a decision where you don’t rush to the next input.
It’s the pause where your thinking finally catches up to your workload. 🌿

Without white space, everything blends together...tasks, urgency, emotion, noise.
With white space, patterns emerge. Insight shows up. Priorities sharpen.

White space is where better analysis is born.
Not in the rush… but in the recovery between the rush.

👉 Try this: build 15–30 minutes of unscheduled space into your day this week—and don’t assign it a purpose.

Let it stay open.

Restoration is not a reward. It’s a requirement. 🔋Somewhere along the way, rest became something you earn. That’s backwar...

Restoration is not a reward. It’s a requirement. 🔋

Somewhere along the way, rest became something you earn.

That’s backwards.

Rest is part of performance.
Not separate from it.

The mind that never pauses eventually loses precision.
The analyst who never restores eventually loses clarity.

Rest is not the opposite of work.
It is what makes work intelligent.

👉 Schedule restoration the same way you schedule meetings. This week.
