Sometimes you only get a handful of seconds to capture the essence of a subject. Case in point: Dhani Harrison at the mother church, the Ryman Auditorium.
This was ten years ago during Dylan Fest in May 2016. Dhani, the son of the legendary George Harrison, gave me just a few minutes of his time onstage in an empty room. In documentary work, that split-second window is all you get to dial in the camera, find that dramatic, cinematic light, and frame the shot. It’s these fleeting, unscripted moments with iconic storytellers and players that remind me why I’ve spent the last 3 decades doing this. When the window opens, you have to be ready to shoot.
