The cheetah wastes very little movement.

Every stride matters.

In leadership, busyness can create the illusion of progress.
But high-performing teams learn to:
• simplify
• streamline
• eliminate wasted effort
• focus on impact

Precision creates momentum.

Frenzy creates exhaustion.

The Cost of Distraction.

Distraction rarely looks dangerous in the moment.
It often looks like:
• another opportunity
• another meeting
• another “quick request”

But teams that chase everything eventually lose momentum.

Focus requires discipline.
And discipline often means saying “no” to good things so you can pursue the right things.

Cheetahs don’t sprint all day.

They conserve energy intentionally so they can perform decisively when it matters most.

Leaders should do the same.

Constant intensity eventually produces exhaustion—not excellence.

Energy management is leadership.

Clarity Creates Momentum

Focus starts with clarity.
What’s the priority?
What matters most?
What deserves your team’s energy?

Without clarity, teams scatter their effort across too many directions.

The cheetah succeeds because it chooses its target carefully before it begins the chase.

Strong leaders do the same.

The Cheetah Doesn’t Chase Everything.

One of the most fascinating things about a cheetah hunt is this:
Once locked onto its prey, the cheetah will often run past other nearby animals.

Why?
Because distraction destroys momentum.

Leaders face the same challenge every day.
New ideas.
New opportunities.
New urgencies.

But disciplined leaders don’t chase everything.
They stay focused on what matters most.

Why Busy Teams Still Stall.

Busy doesn’t always mean productive.
Many teams are constantly moving… yet making little meaningful progress.

Why?
Because activity and focus are not the same thing.

🐆The cheetah doesn’t chase everything that moves.
It identifies the right target—and commits fully.

Focus beats frenzy.

👉 What’s one distraction your team needs to eliminate right now?

This month we explored a simple idea:
Mentorship accelerates growth.

Most leaders have “May-bes”:
“Maybe I should invest more in my team.”
“Maybe I should develop others more intentionally.”

The difference between growth and stagnation is action.
Mentorship turns “May-bes” into “Will-Dos.”

If you’d like to explore how mentorship, DISC insights, and the RHINO Roadblocks™ framework can support your team, let’s connect. https://calendly.com/coachbill-raisethelid/30-minute-exploratory-call

Many leaders want to mentor…
…but don’t.

“I don’t have time.”
“They’ll figure it out.”
“I’m not sure what to say.”

Mentorship doesn’t require perfection.
It requires presence.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is a powerful reminder that true leadership is not just about advancement…
It’s about service.

Scripture reminds us:
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” - John 15:13

Today, we remember those who demonstrated that kind of love and courage.

And we also reflect on something that often goes unseen:
No one steps into that level of responsibility alone. Behind every soldier is a foundation built through:
• training
• discipline
• guidance
• and mentorship

In many ways, leadership in the military reflects a deeper principle:
We are called not only to lead—but to prepare others.

This month, we’ve been talking about how Mentorship Accelerates Growth.

Memorial Day reminds us that mentorship is not just about personal development. It’s about equipping others for moments that truly matter.

So today, as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we can also reflect on our own calling:
Who has helped shape your journey?
And who are you intentionally investing in?

Because leadership is not just about what we accomplish…
It’s about how we serve—and what we leave behind.

Today, take a moment to remember…
and consider how you can invest in someone else’s growth this week.
