DUI Saturation Patrol Planned in Memory of Officer Destin Legieza

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TN - On Friday, June 19, 2026, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office will join the Brentwood Police Department, Franklin Police Department, and Tennessee Highway Patrol for a countywide DUI saturation patrol focused on keeping impaired drivers off our roads.

This annual enforcement effort is conducted in memory of Brentwood Police Officer Destin Legieza, who was tragically killed by an impaired driver while serving his community on June 18, 2020.

Impaired driving continues to claim lives across Tennessee and the nation. These crashes are preventable, and every driver has a choice before getting behind the wheel.

Throughout the evening, motorists can expect an increased law enforcement presence across Williamson County aimed at identifying and removing impaired drivers from the roadway.

If your plans include alcohol, make a plan before you go out. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or arrange another safe way home.

If you see a suspected impaired driver, call 911 or **THP (847) immediately.
Together, we can honor Officer Legieza’s memory by making responsible choices and helping keep Williamson County roads safe.

⚪️Tennessee’s THCA H**p Ban Takes Effect July 1

H**p and smoke shops across Tennessee are preparing for major changes as new state h**p regulations take full effect on July 1.

The most significant change is a ban on h**p products containing more than 0.3% THCA, effectively removing many popular smokable h**p flower products from store shelves.

State lawmakers say the measure is intended to address concerns about an industry they viewed as largely unregulated. While THCA itself is not intoxicating, it converts into THC when heated or smoked.

In addition to the THCA restrictions, Tennessee’s new rules require product testing, licensing, packaging standards, and dosage labeling for h**p-derived products.

Supporters say the regulations will help ensure consumers know what they are purchasing and whether products have been properly tested.

Many h**p business owners support testing and safety requirements but argue the THCA ban could have a major financial impact on stores that rely heavily on h**p flower sales.

Businesses that fail to comply with the new regulations could face criminal penalties, fines, and potential license revocation for repeated violations.

The THCA ban officially takes effect statewide on July 1, 2026.

WHILE TENNESSEE LAWMAKERS CONTINUE TO FURTHER RESTRICT CANNABIS PRODUCTS, KENTUCKY MOVES IN THE OTHER DIRECTION TO HELP MORE PEOPLE.
More of those in the Blue Grass state will now be able to qualify for medical cannabis.
This week Gov. Andy Beshear signed an executive order to issue an emergency regulation clarify qualifying conditions for medical cannabis in Kentucky law.
This now means an additional fifteen
medical conditions will be recognized, including the following:
Sickle cell anemia
ALS
Crohn’s disease
Parkinson’s disease
Terminal illness
HIV
AIDS
Huntington’s Disease
Muscular dystrophy
Cachexia or wasting syndrome
Ulcerative colitis
Neurophathies
Severe arthritis
Fibromyalgia
Glaucoma
“The law is meant to provide a safe alternative form of pain relief for Kentuckians suffering, yet the law’s lack of clarity prevented too many people from receiving help. This step makes the law more clear,” said Gov. Beshear.
Makes sense doesn’t it?
A little over three years ago Gov. Beshear signed Senate Bill 47, legalizing medical cannabis for Kentuckians beginning Jan. 1, 2025.
Meanwhile, medical ma*****na remains illegal in Tennessee … and lawmakers are passing further restrictions.
But, hey, for pain in the Volunteer State you can get legal opioids.
Here’s the truth: Any lawmaker who thinks ma*****na is more dangerous than an opioid is an idiot.
I personally know several ill Tennesseans whose only effective pain relief comes from ma*****na.
It may be illegal in Tennessee, but that’s not stopping anyone who needs it and is determined to get it.
They just take their money out of state.
I simply don’t understand it.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
