What if you didn't need everything at once?

When you're working against a holiday deadline, it's worth asking whether your entire print order needs to be ready on the same day.

For some projects, starting with a smaller quantity or splitting an order into phases may offer more flexibility, depending on production requirements.

It's one of several ways to rethink a tight timeline without abandoning your plans altogether.

Have a holiday project coming up? Let's talk through your options.

Your design is ready. Is your file?

You've spent time getting every detail just right. The last thing you want is a printing issue that could have been caught before production.

From blurry images to missing bleed, a few simple file checks can make a big difference in the finished product.

Before you send your next project to print, make sure your file is ready for the job.

Why does one sign look tired by spring while another still looks sharp years later?

Often, it's what the sign is printed on.

Foam board and corrugated plastic suit short-term and seasonal signs. PVC works well indoors. Aluminum composite is built for signs that stay outside year-round.

A holiday promotion and a permanent storefront sign don't need the same material. The goal is a board that lasts as long as the message does.

Giving Tuesday is December 1. If your year-end appeal is meant to arrive beforehand, early November can be a useful mailing target.

Work backward from there: final creative, clean donor data, production and mail prep all need room on the schedule.

Still finalizing? A simpler package with enough time for production and mailing may make more sense than rushing a more complicated one.

Working backward makes the timeline easier to see. Our full guide breaks down what to plan for along the way: https://www.alphagraphics.com/blog/blog/2026/10/when-should-a-nonprofit-mail-its-year-end-appeal

Holiday cards have a funny way of feeling early until suddenly they’re late.

The first two weeks of December may sound far off, but that arrival date has to leave room for printing, addressing, mailing and holiday postal volume. And that’s after the copy, design and mailing list are final.

One thing worth doing now: clean up your recipient list. Confirm names, company names and addresses while there’s still time to catch mistakes before they’re printed on 500 envelopes.

Planning a corporate holiday card mailing? The full timeline is in the guide: https://www.alphagraphics.com/blog/blog/2026/10/when-should-you-mail-corporate-holiday-cards

The best corporate holiday card doesn't sell anything.

No offer. No service recap. No call to action.

It says thank you, on time, in a way that feels like a person sent it.

Then there's timing. If you want cards to arrive during the first two weeks of December, work backward from that window. Set the mail date first, then the production deadline, then the day copy, design and list data need to be locked.

USPS lists First-Class Mail at 1–5 business days and doesn't guarantee delivery within a specific window, so leave room for December volume.

On the message itself, keep it short:
A seasonal greeting.
A specific thank-you.
A brief wish for the new year.
A real signature.

If you don't know which holidays recipients observe, "Happy Holidays," "Season's Greetings" or a New Year message works for a broad list.

The best mailing timeline starts with the day you want the card opened. We mapped the steps backward from there. Who's on your list this year: clients, employees or both?

See what to plan for, and when, in the full holiday card guide below.

The easiest gala signage to reuse next year is the signage without a date on it.

Dates, honoree names and sponsor rosters change every year. The rest doesn't have to.

Pieces you can reuse year after year:

Welcome signs with your organization's branding
A-frame and directional sign hardware
Retractable banner stands with swappable graphics
Table-number holders
Mission or donation signage
Photo-backdrop hardware

Keep event-specific details off those pieces, build templates you can update, and next year's gala starts ahead instead of from scratch.

Design this year's gala with next year's in mind. See the full signage checklist here: https://www.alphagraphics.com/blog/blog/2026/10/what-signage-does-fundraising-gala-need

Between now and January, your windows should change at least three times.

October: fall flavors and Halloween.

Late November: Black Friday on the 27th, Small Business Saturday on the 28th.

December: the winter holidays.

The easiest way to accomplish it isn't a new design every few weeks. It's one plan for every changeover: graphics sized to the A-frames and banner stands you already own, and each seasonal piece chosen for how long its message needs to last.

Map every swap before you order the first one, and each change becomes a quick insert swap instead of a new project.

One storefront. Several seasonal changeovers. See how to plan the full sequence before the first graphic goes up: http://alphagraphics.com/blog/blog/2026/10/holiday-storefront-checklist-before-black-friday

If a guest has to stop and ask where to go, that's where a sign is missing.

Gala signage has three jobs: help guests find their way, support the program and fundraising, and deliver what sponsors were promised.

That doesn't mean every gala needs every sign. A dinner in one ballroom might need very little wayfinding. An evening that moves from a lobby to a reception, an auction and a ballroom needs a lot more.

Black Friday is November 27. The date your storefront actually has to hit comes much sooner: mid to late October.

That's the order target that leaves room for production, installation and approvals before the rush starts.

A holiday refresh doesn't mean replacing everything. Permanent signs can usually stay put. The pieces that tend to need attention are the temporary ones: window graphics, the A-frame message, sale posters, holiday hours and pickup signs.
