Uncertainty isn’t just uncomfortable.
It’s biologically stressful.

Research shared by Harvard Business Review shows the brain reacts more strongly to uncertainty than to actual bad news. If you’re in transition, it makes sense that it feels hard, and it’s not your fault.

But here’s the good news: your mindset is trainable. Here are three quick things you can try right now to help combat the stress of uncertainty:

1. Take 3 to 5 minutes to meditate or ground yourself. has great "quick" meditations that target a multitude of negative emotions working against you. Taking time to ground yourself through meditation increases the mental fortitude you have to operate sagely when feeling stressed.

2. Reframe and do it quickly. Give yourself 60 seconds or less to feel the negative emotion, then immediately focus on a bigger, more positive one. This exercise rewires neural pathways to be more likely to respond or switch to positive/productive use of our brains more quickly in the future, while cutting short negative thoughts now.

3. Get it out of your head and onto paper. Take a few moments to write everything down that you're thinking about onto a piece of paper - you may have heard this called a brain dump. Moving from thinking about something to putting it on paper, forces our brain from rumination to action and increases the likelihood you can balance both part of your brain to operate more optimally.

These 3 things are funk busters, not total problem solvers. Negative self-talk doesn’t just make you feel worse, it also makes your brain less effective.
Studies show it triggers the same neural pathways as fear. 😳

Let’s start interrupting those patterns by using a simple 3-step practice to reframe:
1) Take a beat to notice when you realize you're using negative self-talk.

2) Label it. In Positive Intelligence we call that The Judge "Okay, that's The Judge talking, not me."

3) Reframe and shift into a positive, growth mindset by asking your self a positive question like "What if I'm exactly where I need to be for what's next?"

Three simple steps that take less than 2 seconds to process, but can begin to rewire those neural pathways to the positive.

A little Irish blessing for you, from one of my favorite travel views in Fanore, Ireland, looking west/southwest out over the Atlantic toward the Aran Islands. Can you see the car zipping by down on the Wild Atlantic Way?

This video taken at an incredible little cottage we booked last minute after a VERY long day driving around the ring of Kerry and learning that I had booked our intended stay for the wrong year. 🙃

Thinking we had booked in Ennis, we drove to a grocer there to snag some food for breakfast then entered the cottage address - which was 40 km (25 miles) away.

We started on city roads but it seemed like each kilometer the road got more narrow, steep, windy and with less to no signage at all. And as we traveled on, somehow the ETA on our GPS kept suspiciously increasing. At one point I actually said "I think we're on a bike path" - if you've been to Ireland and driven in the countryside, I'm sure you can picture it.

As the daylight was dwindling and the roads became more narrow and confusing to us foreigners, I said, "if we don't see an indication that we are in the right place within the next 5 minutes, I think we need to turn around." And before I could finish my sentence, we crested a hill to the most gorgeous sunset over Galway Bay, with the homes and buildings of Fanore below dotting the coastline.

There's nothing like travel to remind you - just keep going. And no one like the Irish, to welcome you in and help you have mighty craic after a long day of travel. Happy St. Patrick's Day! ☘️

Feeling anxious? Try this 3-step reset in under a minute and let’s know in the comments how you feel when you’re done!

1️⃣ Breathe with the waves – Inhale deeply for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 6. Sync your breath with the rhythm of the ocean. 🌬️

2️⃣ Ground yourself – Engage your senses. What can you see, hear, feel? Notice the present moment instead of spiraling in “what ifs.” 🌊

3️⃣ Reframe your thoughts – Anxiety tricks your brain into worst-case scenarios. Ask yourself: “What if the best happens instead?” 💭

Your nervous system responds to what you give attention to. The more you practice, the easier it becomes to shift from stress to calm. 💙

That feeling when something *actually* works and you realize it's because of the work you did.
