Mesabi Metallics, an Essar Group company, is constructing a state-of-the-art 7-million metric ton Direct-Reduction (DR) grade iron ore pellet and mine with resources of 1.3 billion tons on over 16,000 acres in Nashwauk, Minnesota. The project is on track to be commercially operational in 2026, and once completed, it will be the first new mine and pellet plant in Minnesota in almost 50 years. Mesab

i’s DR grade pellets will be strategically positioned to meet the demand of the Electric Arc Furnace market, ensuring supply chain security for DR grade pellets in the United States and replacing foreign imported pellets while powering the decarbonization of steel production.

Group 4! 👷‍♀️🏗️

Another round of new faces joining Team Mesabi! It’s been a busy few weeks welcoming everyone, and so exciting to watch our team grow. While our earlier groups primarily welcomed Mining Equipment Operators and Mechanics, this round includes our first Concentrator Operator Maintainers and Mechanics, along with an Environmental Technician.

AG Mill 1 is completed and ready for operation! ⚙️

As with all successful commissionings, the team celebrated this major achievement by smashing coconuts – a tradition that brings a little extra meaning to the moment. 🥥

DID YOU KNOW?
In Indian tradition, breaking a coconut is commonly associated with auspicious beginnings and important milestones. The coconut is offered and broken as a symbol of removing obstacles, inviting good fortune and expressing gratitude before beginning something new or celebrating a successful accomplishment.

Congratulations to the entire team whose hard work, teamwork and dedication brought AG Mill 1 to life!

Group three is in – and the parking lot might tell the story better than we can!

Another group of new hires has joined Team Mesabi, filling our Hiring Center as we continue building the team that will operate Mesabi for years to come. ⚙️

As with our prior cohorts, our newest hires had the opportunity to hear directly from leaders Joe Broking (CEO), Larry Sutherland (COO), Shane Holman (Mine GM), along with Safety Technician Mike Pechovnik, as they begin getting to know the people, expectations and culture behind Mesabi.

Their diverse skill sets and experiences bring a wealth of knowledge and innovation to our organization, enhancing our ability to deliver exceptional results. As we integrate these talented individuals into our workforce, we are excited to see the fresh perspectives and dynamic energy they will contribute. 🏗️

The onboarding process includes a comprehensive orientation program designed to familiarize them with our culture, values, and operational procedures.
