🚨Was your refund supposed to be a certain amount but you only received a portion of it or nothing at all?🚨

It is likely your refund was offset by BFS to cover a past debt.

IRS Topic no 203: Reduced Refund

The Department of Treasury's Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS) issues IRS tax refunds and Congress authorizes BFS to conduct the Treasury Offset Program (TOP). Through the TOP program, BFS may reduce your refund (overpayment) and offset it to pay:

✅Past-due child support;
✅Federal agency nontax debts;
✅State income tax obligations; or
✅Certain unemployment compensation debts owed to a state (generally, these are debts for (1) compensation paid due to fraud, or (2) contributions owing to a state fund that weren't paid).

You can contact the agency with which you have a debt to determine if your debt was submitted for a tax refund offset. You may call BFS's TOP call center at the number below for an agency address and phone number. If your debt meets submission criteria for offset, BFS will reduce your refund as needed to pay off any eligible debts you owe to the agency. BFS will then issue you a refund for the remaining portion.

BFS will send you a notice if an offset occurs. The notice will reflect the original refund amount, your offset amount, the agency receiving the payment, and the address and telephone number of the agency. BFS will notify the IRS of the amount taken from your refund once your refund date has passed. You should contact the agency shown on the notice if you believe you don't owe the debt or if you're disputing the amount taken from your refund. Contact the IRS only if your original refund amount shown on the BFS offset notice differs from the refund amount shown on your tax return. If you don't receive a notice, contact the BFS's TOP call center at 800-304-3107 (or TTY/TDD 800-877-8339), Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.

🚨Contratistas: ya se llega la fecha limite de darle su 1099 a tus subcontratistas-01/31/26! Necesitas la forma W9 llenada por cada subcontratista para hacerle su 1099, no importa si tienen ITIN o seguro. Se tiene que dar para tu deducir ese gasto de tu planilla de impuestos federales!!!

Ojo, si cualquier otra persona te brindo servicios para tu negocio y le pagaste mas de $600 en 2025 tambien debes hacerle una 1099.

Si eres mi cliente y necesitas formas W9, tengo en la puerta de mi oficina para ti, que esperas?! 👀🫵🏼⌛️

🚨 Contractors: The deadline to give your 1099s to your subcontractors is coming up — 01/31/26!
You need a W-9 form completed by each subcontractor in order to prepare their 1099. It doesn’t matter if they have an ITIN or Social Security number. You must have this in order to deduct that expense on your federal tax return!

Also, if anyone else provided services for your business and you paid them more than $600 in 2025, you must issue them a 1099 as well.

• Identificación oficial (ID o licencia)
• Números de Seguro Social o ITIN (tuyos, de tu cónyuge y dependientes)
• Fechas de nacimiento de dependientes
• Dirección actual y cuenta bancaria (para depósito directo)
• carta con IP PIN-codigo de proteccion de identidad personal (si esque has verificado tu identidad con el IRS, te llega uno nuevo cada año. Sin el tu declaracion sera rechazada)

💼 Ingresos
• W-2 (si eres empleado/a)
• 1099-NEC / 1099-MISC (trabajo independiente, contratista)
• 1099-K (Pagos por Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, Stripe, Square, etc.)
• Ingresos en efectivo (registro propio)
• Ingresos por renta

🧾 Negocio o trabajo por cuenta propia
(muy importante si eres independiente, DBA o LLC)
• Estados de cuenta bancarios del negocio
• Reporte de ingresos
• Recibos de gastos:
• Teléfono
• Gasolina
• Reparaciones
• Herramientas/equipo
• Publicidad/marketing
• Uniformes
• Educación/cursos etc
• Millaje (si usas vehículo para el negocio)
• Formularios 1099 que tú emitiste (si pagaste a contratistas)-fecha limite Enero 31

🏠 Vivienda
• Formulario 1098 (intereses de hipoteca)
• Impuestos de propiedad pagados

❤️ Familia
• Gastos de guardería (nombre, EIN o SSN del proveedor)
• 1095-A de seguro medico por medio del mercado de salud

• 1098-T (colegiaturas)
• Recibos de libros y materiales
