We spend a lot of time talking about decisions.

What to plant. What to apply. When to wait. When to move. Where to spend another dollar, and where not to.

But the people making those decisions are carrying a lot more than an agronomy plan.

They're carrying businesses. Families. Land that's been handed down and land they're hoping to hand down. They're making decisions today without knowing exactly what weather, markets or another growing season will bring.

That's something we don't take lightly.

On National Farmer's Day, we're grateful for the producers who trust us with a seat at the table.

We're proud to work for you. 🌱 Happy National Farmer's Day from Greene Crop Consulting.

𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹

If there’s one theme that runs through Denny Bell’s career, it’s this: keep learning.

Denny was named a 2017 Master Farmer, but his story goes far beyond one title. Over the years, he has farmed, built businesses, helped develop early ag software and yield-mapping technology, founded Soil-Max, worked on GPS-based drainage solutions, and continued pushing his own operation forward with practices like strip-till, no-till, cover crops and irrigation.

What stands out most is not just the innovation. It’s the mindset behind it.

Listen. Learn. Adapt.

That willingness to ask questions, study what’s working and keep adjusting is a big part of what has made Denny’s operation so forward-thinking, and why we’re proud to work alongside him.

Thanks, Denny, for trusting Greene Crop to be part of the conversation on your acres.

What if fall residue management could do more than help break down stalks?

That's the idea behind Bio Ag E from Calibrated Agronomy.

Bio Ag E combines cellulose- and lignin-degrading biology with a broader biological package designed to support nutrient cycling, phosphorus availability, microbial diversity and a more active soil biological system.

In other words, the goal isn't simply to make residue disappear.

It's to use what's already there as an opportunity to build toward what's next.

In the latest Greene Gazette, we're digging deeper into Bio Ag E, the soil food web and why fall can be an important time to put biology to work.

That’s why we’re proud to work with Calibrated Agronomy. We share the same farmer-focused approach and the same goal: helping growers make informed decisions, reach their goals and improve their bottom line.

At the end of the day, it’s about bringing the right people and resources together to help farmers get the most out of their operation.

A huge shoutout to the Whiteland FFA Members & Alumni Chapter for their Feed the Farmer project! 👏 We appreciate these students taking the time to support local farmers during one of the busiest times of the year. It’s great to see the next generation of agriculture giving back to their community!

Is soybean cyst nematode quietly costing you yield? SCN can be present without obvious aboveground symptoms, making soil testing an important step in understanding what’s happening below the surface.

Danny Greene recently spoke with Farm Progress about SCN and why fall is an ideal time to test your fields.

Check out the full article for testing resources and more information on managing SCN:

Soybean cyst nematode can cause problems you didn't even know you had. Test for it so you know what you're up against at soybean planting in the spring.

Harvest may take the grain, but there's still a lot left behind.

Stalks, leaves and other crop residues contain carbon and nutrients that still have a role to play, and what happens to that residue can influence the soil environment you're planting into next spring.

That's why we're thinking beyond simply getting residue to disappear.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be talking more about what happens after harvest and how biology can help turn what's left behind into an opportunity for the next crop.

Because harvest may finish one season, but the work happening in your soil doesn't stop there. 🌱

Cover crops can bring plenty of benefits, but they can also add another layer of management heading into corn. Danny Greene recently shared his thoughts with Farm Progress on managing the “green bridge,” including cover crop termination timing and options for protecting corn from early-season insect pressure.

Indiana crop advisers explain how to keep your corn crop clean after cover crops, which could potentially increase pest pressure if not managed well.

The combine may mark the end of one growing season, but it also opens the door to the next.

After harvest, we have an opportunity to take what we learned this year and start putting it to work; evaluating results, collecting soil samples, reviewing fertility and identifying opportunities for the season ahead.

The decisions made after the crop comes off can have a lot to do with what happens when the next one goes in.

Harvest isn't the end. It's where next season starts. 🌱
