Giving more than you take isn’t a strategy, it’s a reflection of who Jesus is. From turning water into w**e at a wedding to washing the feet of the very disciples who would betray him, Jesus modeled a life of open-handed, second-mile generosity. Not because it was easy, but because his heart was already there.
Rebekah watered ten camels without being asked, two hundred gallons, and didn’t even know yet that her life was about to change. She gave first, with no strings attached. That’s the model.
The world defaults to “eye for eye.” Jesus said give them your coat too. Go the second mile. Not out of obligation, but because that second mile is where people see Jesus in you.
Giving starts in the heart, not in your bank account, not after retirement, not when life gets easier. Today, with what you have, to the people right in front of you.
You never know what a single act of generosity will set in motion. But that’s not why you do it. You do it because He first gave everything to you.
So here’s your challenge this week, water someone’s camels. Go the second mile. Give more than is expected, more than feels comfortable, more than anyone would ask. Start with one person, one moment, one choice. And watch what God does with it.
