JCG Land Services is proud to announce that we have been awarded a portion of the PowerOn Midwest transmission project in Southern Minnesota supporting critical 765kV energy infrastructure development.

PowerOn Midwest is a regional transmission initiative focused on strengthening grid reliability, increasing energy capacity, and supporting the growing energy demands across the Midwest. Projects like these play a critical role in delivering long-term infrastructure improvements that help communities, businesses, and future development continue to grow.

Continuing our Project Highlights series with the Northland Reliability Project.

Next up, Dylan Johnson. He is an Acquisition Specialist at JCG and plays a key role in securing the right of way needed to move this project forward while working closely with landowners and stakeholders throughout the process.

This project is a major transmission infrastructure build in Minnesota, developing approximately 180 miles of new double circuit 345kV transmission line between the Iron Range Substation near Grand Rapids and the Big Oaks Substation near Monticello. It focuses on strengthening the electric grid, expanding transmission capacity, and supporting long term energy needs across the region.

Why it matters:
This project improves grid reliability and resiliency across northern and central Minnesota while helping deliver electricity more efficiently. It supports growing energy demand and ensures communities and businesses have access to dependable power.

How it’s being built:
Work includes constructing new high voltage transmission lines across multiple counties, coordinating with landowners for right of way acquisition, and installing infrastructure designed to handle increased transmission capacity and long distance energy delivery.

Continuing our Project Highlights series with the Mills Civic Parkway Reconstruction project.

Next up, Sean Devine. Sean is an Acquisition Specialist at JCG and plays a key role in securing the right of way needed to move this project forward while working closely with landowners throughout the process.

This project is a multi-phase roadway reconstruction in West Des Moines, constructing a new roadway south of the existing Mills Civic Parkway from South 91st Street to South Grand Prairie Parkway. It includes building the southern three lanes of a future six-lane divided roadway, completing right of way acquisition, and preparing the corridor for full buildout as the area continues to grow.

Why it matters:
This project supports continued development in West Des Moines by improving roadway conditions now while proactively planning for increased traffic demand in the future. It ensures infrastructure is in place to safely and efficiently accommodate long-term growth.

How it’s being built:
Work includes constructing a new bridge over a creek, installing a large culvert at an additional crossing, importing and grading significant amounts of earthwork, and acquiring necessary right of way from over 30 landowners. Crews are also grading the north side to prepare for future expansion.
