Good luck in your new endeavors and don’t be a stranger! Thank you for all the y of training!

After more than 15 years of service, EMT Derek Back has announced his retirement from the Callaway County Ambulance District, effective August 25, 2026.

Derek joined CCAD on June 11, 2011, and has spent the years since caring for the residents of Callaway County and helping shape the people who serve alongside him. Over his career he wore many hats. He served as a BLS instructor, a driving instructor, and a field training officer, passing his knowledge and standards on to countless new EMTs and paramedics. As a member of our peer support team, he was there for his fellow providers during some of the hardest moments this work brings.

The impact of a career like Derek's reaches far beyond the calls he ran. It lives on in every provider he trained, mentored, and stood beside. That legacy will continue to serve our community long after his last shift.

Please join us in thanking Derek for his dedication and wishing him all the best in a well-earned retirement.

New Bloomfield Firefighters had a good time Saturday morning, at training and Firefighters and family barbecue.

Starting July 27, the Missouri Department of Transportation plans to close down Callaway County Route J in New Bloomfield for two days.
