Join us in supporting local young entrepreneurs this Saturday, December 6th, at the New Braunfels Farmers Market!

Oak Run Middle School’s GT History students have been participating in a project similar to a Shark Tank presentation. Students developed creative pitches for their chosen products to present to potential investors. They also designed logos, slogans, marketing strategies, and business cards to complement their pitches.

SPARK Small Business Center serves as both a judge and investor for the event. We invested in the team Knotty & Nice, which will be selling crocheted items from their “knotty list,” including penguin plushies, lanyards, wrapped phone chargers, and keychains.

We encourage you to support Knotty & Nice, along with the other participating teams, at the New Braunfels Farmers Market this Saturday.

Yesterday, SPARK Small Business Center participated in the Youth CareerQuest: Inspire the Future Workforce of New Braunfels.

The Youth CareerQuest was an exciting opportunity for local businesses and employers to help shape the future workforce of New Braunfels and Comal County. Waves of eighth-grade students from across the region were able to visit tables and experience what different industries had to offer.

SPARK was able to share with students the various ways we could help them as young entrepreneurs, as well as a glimpse into the daily activities of a business advisor and administrative staff.

We look forward to participating again next year!

Last week, SPARK Small Business Center participated in Northeast Lakeview’s Student Convocation week. Students were able to find out more about SPARK’s mission and discuss their business goals.

Various local resources and businesses joined together to provide students with information for building interpersonal skills, business, and networking at the Convocation. Carolyn Babb with Starpath Consulting, the event’s featured presenter, shared valuable insights regarding communication using the DiSC style.
