I heard something really disheartening today. "I'm afraid to look at my QuickBooks because my bookkeeper is so behind." 😭

What made it even worse is that she HAS to go into her QuickBooks to invoice her clients and she was waiting days because that's how badly she doesn't want to see it.

You shouldn't be waiting months for your bookkeeper to categorize transactions, reconcile, and send you reports.

Wow. They had me thinking, "what $4,800 payment," and "do I even have that much in my account," and "what is going on?" Then, I looked at the email address this came from. The "unsubscribe" link sort of gave it away.

Don't fall for these emails. Don't click the green "view details" button. Check the return email address first to see if it looks legit. hirefrederick . com is not sending emails for Intuit or QuickBooks.

I think every small business owner has asked themselves this question when they first started!

If you're anything like my other small business clients, you're probably wanting to DIY things because you want to save money...

And it's true, good bookkeeping isn't cheap! 💸

But before you go full DIY bookkeeper on me, I want you to consider these costs:

⏰ YOUR TIME ⏰

Hellooo, it's one of the most valuable things you have as a small business owner, and you're probably going to spend a lot more of it than you think on your bookkeeping trying to figure it all out yourself.

💰 POTENTIAL MISTAKES 💰

Not saying you're going to make mistakes, butttt I am saying that I've NEVER seen a set of DIY books that are 100% clean.

The type of mistakes you can make in your bookkeeping can mean missing tax deductions, potential tax penalties + interest, and more expense clean-up fees down the road.

So if you're googling this question, here's what I want you to take away:

YES, you totally can do your own bookkeeping. But is it *truly* worth it for your business long-term? 👀
