It happened again this weekend. A nonprofit let potentially thousands of dollars walk out the door because they didn't ask for donations early in the program. They wanted to wait until the very end to give their stories the maximum impact. Sadly, by the time the ask was finally made at 11:30 at night, over half the donors had left. Hundreds of supporters had left taking with them potentially thousands of dollars. Dollars that would have made a profound difference in the lives this nonprofit serves. Stories don't matter if there's no one in the room to give at the end. My heart breaks every time I see this happen.

Get your fundraising done early, then get on with the celebration, recognition and encouragement.

You worked very hard to fill that room and invested lots of time and money. Get the money early.
