We’re proud to share that Ben Black was revealed as this year’s “Mr. X” at the GAWDA Annual Convention in Boston. He has joined the GAWDA officer lineup, putting him on the path to serve as GAWDA President in 2030.

This moment carries a family story. Our founder, Jack A. Butler, urged his son Jack to get involved in industry associations and learn from the people in them. Jack went on to serve as GAWDA president in 1993, followed by another generation of Butler Gas leadership in 2020 and 2021.

Now Ben is carrying that commitment forward. We’ve seen the respect he has earned across our industry, and we’re proud of the opportunity he has to give back to an association that has meant so much to our company since 1960.

John joined the Butler Gas team at the beginning of the year and has hit the ground running as a customer advocate. Prior to his hiring, we knew John as a passionate and dedicated volunteer in the New Brighton community, home of our first Butler Gas location in 1948. We are thrilled John has joined our team, and he is active in his training developing technical competency about gases and welding.

Under John's leadership, we are launching a new business community program in New Brighton - The Five Mile Friends Club. This club extends special local service and discounts to our neighboring businesses in New Brighton within five miles of us at 1103 13th Street.
