What is your favorite thing about Fall? Your favorite dish? Your favorite hike? Do you decorate? Do you live for Halloween?

My absolute favorite thing about fall is the mystery. There's an energy in the air. Maybe it's all of those scary movies that take place in cornfields under full moons. I don't know, but there's something very spiritual about Autumn.

My story.

I once was sick....and now I'm not. Ya see, I'm a retired professional competetive ballroom dancer and at the end of my career, my health took a turn for the worst....seemingly out of nowhere. I could barely walk up a flight of stairs without having to stop to catch my breath. Blood pressure was off; migraines; heart palpitations.... it was scary.

I refused to go to the Doctor. I knew they'd just put me on some sort of medication which wouldn't solve the underlying problem.

6 months has passed by and things were getting worse. That's when I decided to make a HUGE change in my lifestyle. Although I looked healthy on the outside, Inside was a different story. I was only 28 years old and kept telling myself "I should be able to eat whatever I want". My diet was atrocious and I knew I had to make a change.

So on January 1st, 2012, I started over. I gave up all meat, all dairy, all processed foods. zero Cheese, no ice cream, no fast food, no soda... I was DONE! Cold Turkey. What happened over the next few weeks was astonishing in my eyes. In hindsight, it was so simple and made perfect sense.

I replaced my traditional American Diet with raw fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds, fresh pressed juices and the only cooked food I ate were potatoes. I even gave up salt.

After a few days, I began to detox healvily. I was even more fatigued than I had been. I was itching all over. You couldn't get me out of the bathroom. I'd get bouts of nauseousness, pocket headaches and I was sleeping all the time.

But after a couple weeks, the fog lifted. I started getting my energy back. Headaches were subsiding. The itching was discipating and not only that, my symptoms from the last 6 months started to disappear. My blood pressure was regulating, my heart palpitations stopped. I was able to walk without huffing and puffing....then lightly jog.....then run!!
It only took 1 month and I was back on my feet. I felt better than I had in years.

This was the start to my journey towards the pursuit of ultimate health and well-being.

My mom had discovered Freelife's/Youngevity's Goji Juice & Jule Supplements years before and they had changed her life and I thought to myself, now that I've done what I can do dietarily, let's kick it up knotch! I began taking those two amazing juices. My energy went through the roof! My circulation increased. I was recovering from my workouts faster than ever. My mood lifted and my depression went away. I became very, very conscientious of everything I was putting in my body. I did my research. I wanted the best of the best nutritional supplements. I even began making my own soap so I could avoid the chemical laced stuff at the store.
Years later, I had the honor of meeting Dr. Joel Wallach, the founder of Youngevity, and I was BLOWN away by his expertise and knowledge in nutrition and that's when I decided I wanted to help others gain health....which I believe is he first part to living a wealthy, abundant life. I joined Youngevity and decided to make it my full time career.

This is why I am a part of this amazing company that helped to change my life, my mom's life and so many others'.

I truly believe health starts at home. It starts with you.

Bruce Lipton.. along with Dr. Joel Wallach, is considered one of the godfather's of Epi-Genetics. While Dr. Wallach focuses more on the toxicity and nutritional side and how we can change our genes, Lipton speaks much about how our THOUGHTS, either negative or positive, cause the genes to change and either allow the body to heal itself... or... cause disease.

The video below is fairly short. I highly recommend giving it a watch.

Our thoughts, whether they're right or they're wrong, are actually changing our biology. The Buddha said, "What we think, we become." Epigenetics is now sayi...

First Tip on How-To Save Time...and Money eating healthy.

Firstly...let us dispel the idea that eating healthy is expensive. It 'tis not. A 10lb sack of Idaho Potatoes costs $3. I can get a dozen ears of corn for $2.50. A bag of Kidney beans is $1.99.

Rice is cheap. Head lettuce is cheap. Celery is cheap. Apple Cider Vinegar for making homemade dressings is cheap. No Salt Added canned veggies cost the same. And with it being Farmers' Market Season... game

What isn't cheap are the fancy packaged "low fat" this and "healthy choice" that...which none of that is healthy anyway.

With that being said..to eat healthy you don't even have to cook. Peel a banana or smash into a bowl of cherries for lunch. And with that that being said...lol..that can be a bit boring, I get it ...but even cooking doesn't have to take time. I am a master at not wasting time in the kitchen.

So my first Tip on how-to save time AND eat healthy.

Crock Pot BABY!!!!

Specifically ...Crock Pot Soups.

Here's how it works.
Depending on the soup you're looking at anywhere between 5 and 20 minute prep time. Now the cooking takes hours...but that ain't on you! That's the Crock Pot's job!

In the morning, take out whatever veggies you want in your soup. ie: Carrots, Celery, Onion, ...ummm... let's go with green beans, potatoes, corn, maybe some cabbage. ...and chop them up. Toss them into the crock pot with a large can of unsalted Tomoato sauce.. add in the pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, maybe a little rosemary or dill... fill the rest of the pot up with water... HIT ON BUTTON... and let slowly cook all afternoon.

STUFF FACE
TURN crock pot off
Let cool
Stick in fridge
Take out of fridge next morning
Turn on crock pot again and let slowly heat up for dinner that night.

Now.. you could partner your soup with a salad. No need to chop anything up... really. Get the bagged spinach or do a wedge salad. Take a head of lettuce, cut it in half, stick it on your plate and drizzle dressing on top. Healthy dressing of course. Check out my photos for an idea for a vegan ranch dressing.

IF you don't have a crock pot, no biggie. a good old fashioned soup pot works great.

Check out the link below for some great vegan soup recipes. Just watch out. Some call for processed junk like certain veggies stocks.

Let me know if you decide to try any of the recipes in the link. I'd be curious as to how they turned out. Chili & Rice and Veggie and Potato and Squash soups... So many!

Happy eating!
