Think of the sweetest, most understanding, and forgiving person you've ever met. Perhaps you remember how they made you feel or how their kindness left an indelible mark on your mind. At my job, I've had the opportunity to meet many people who, in as little as two minutes while picking up their order, have left a lasting impression on me. They come with a smile, a hug, or simply with a radiant personality. I'm grateful to them because, on many occasions, their kindness has brought a breath of fresh air to my busy day. I feel fortunate to have some of them as special friends.
Now, let's imagine for a moment if everyone in the world considered being kind to one another, full of mercy and forgiveness. The world wouldn't be so harsh in many ways.
As followers of Christ, this should be a genuine quality that defines us. Kindness and immediate forgiveness should be part of our daily lives. This is in response to, and in gratitude for, the precious and unconditional forgiveness we all receive through the Lord Jesus on the cross. ππ»β₯οΈβοΈ
In Matthew 18:21-22, Peter asked, βLord, how many times should I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?β Jesus answered, βI tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.β This means forgiving without limits or conditions. Rather than being a mathematical calculation (490 times), itβs a metaphor indicating that forgiveness should be inexhaustible, complete, and total. In our eyes, some offenses may seem difficult to forgive, but there is nothing that, with Godβs help, we cannot overcome. π€²π»β€οΈβπ©Ή
Even when we approach with a closed fist and a thousand reasons not to forgive, His power is made perfect in our weakness, and in the name of Jesus, who is above every name, we can be free and forgive.
This mercy we show by forgiving is both the commandment and the fruit we reap as we are redeemed, always keeping in mind: βFor if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive youβ (Matthew 6:14-15).
Therefore, let us be kind, gentle, and merciful people who impact others by reflecting Jesus in our forgiveness. The world needs God more each day. β₯οΈβοΈ
