Andhra Pradesh: In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the region, five people lost their lives while attempting to save a minor girl who slipped into the Tungabhadra River in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district on Saturday evening. According to police officials, the girl was washing her feet near the riverbank around 4:30 PM when she accidentally lost her balance and was swept away by the strong current. Witnesses said that as cries for help echoed along the riverbank, one person immediately jumped into the water to rescue her. Moments later, others followed in a desperate attempt to save both the girl and the rescuers already struggling against the powerful flow. In a tragic turn of events, the girl was successfully brought to safety, but all five individuals who entered the river to rescue her were overcome by the strong currents and drowned.
