I think parents deserve more nuance around baby sleep.

A contact nap is not failure.
It’s not ā€œbad habits.ā€
And it’s not ruining your baby. šŸ¤

Sometimes babies need closeness.
Sometimes mothers do too.

And if contact naps stop working for a family?
Gentle sleep support can help create balance there too.

Both things can exist at the same time.

One thing that makes my approach to sleep support different as a postpartum doula + sleep consultant…

I don’t just look at the baby’s sleep.

I look at the whole family. šŸ¤

Because exhausted parents need support too.

Before we even talk schedules, wake windows, or bedtime routines, I care deeply about:
✨ how a parent is coping
✨ mental and emotional load
✨ postpartum recovery
✨ feeding dynamics
✨ family rhythms
✨ realistic, sustainable changes

So many parents come to me already feeling:
- overwhelmed
- anxious
- sleep deprived
- like they’re somehow failing

And I never want sleep support to add more shame or pressure.

I believe gentle sleep support can help families feel more rested and confident — while still honoring the emotional reality of postpartum.

You were never meant to do this alone. šŸ¤

DM me ā€œSLEEPā€ if your family is struggling with exhaustion.

One of the first things exhausted parents do when sleep feels hard is blame themselves.⁣
⁣
They wonder if they created bad habits.⁣
If they’re doing everything wrong.⁣
If they missed some ā€œrightā€ way to handle sleep.⁣
⁣
But most of the time, what I see is a parent who is deeply exhausted and trying their absolute best.⁣
⁣
As both a postpartum doula and sleep consultant, I believe support should feel compassionate — not fear-based or shame-filled.⁣
⁣
Because before we talk about schedules, routines, or sleep strategies…⁣
⁣
we have to acknowledge the parent who hasn’t slept either. šŸ¤ā£
⁣
If frequent wakeups are exhausting your family, DM me ā€œSLEEP.ā€ ⁣

This season of motherhood… šŸ’›

One week until Mother’s Day—and I know this time of year can bring up a lot of feelings.

For so many moms, it’s not just a joyful day.

It can feel heavy.
Stressful.
Even overwhelming.

The pressure to show up…
to travel…
to host…
to celebrate everyone else…

when you’re already giving so much of yourself every single day.

I remember this season so clearly.

And I hear this from moms all the time.

So I recorded a new podcast episode about it.

šŸŽ™ļø Why Mother’s Day Feels So Overwhelming (And What You’re Allowed to Do Instead)

If this time of year has ever felt like ā€œtoo muchā€ā€¦

this episode is for you.

And if this resonates, share it with a mom who might need to hear it too.

Let’s keep mothering out loud together.

I don’t think there’s a single mom who hasn’t felt this at some point…

that feeling like everything falls on you.

You’re the one remembering…
planning…
handling all the little things no one else even sees.

And even when someone tries to help…

sometimes it just feels easier to do it yourself.

Not because you want to…

but because it feels like it has to be done a certain way.

And over time…
that gets heavy.

And you find yourself thinking—

why does it feel like everything falls on me?

šŸŽ§ In this week’s episode of Mothering Out Loud,
I’m talking about this feeling so many of us carry…
and why it happens.

You can listen through the link in my bio šŸ¤

One of the most beautiful parts of this work is the community it brings into your life.

Getting together with another doula and our husbands for dinner reminded me how important it is to be supported as a supporter. We hold so much space for others—having people who hold space for us matters just as much.

Grateful for friendships that nourish the heart as much as this work nourishes families. šŸ¤

The mistake I see new moms (and dads) make every week?⁣
⁣
Waiting too long to plan for postpartum support.⁣
⁣
This was the second family just this week I had to turn away šŸ’”ā£
First-time parents, so excited, reaching out for help… and I was already fully booked.⁣
⁣
And I hate that feeling—because I know how much support matters in those early days.⁣
⁣
The truth is, I often book out months in advance.⁣
Many families secure their support early in pregnancy…⁣
and my repeat clients? They reach out as soon as they see those two lines šŸ¤ā£
⁣
Because postpartum care isn’t something to figure out after baby arrives.⁣
It’s something that deserves to be planned ahead of time—just like your birth.⁣
⁣
And this is especially important if you have benefits like Carrot or Maven through your employer.⁣
⁣
So many families don’t realize:⁣
You may already have postpartum support covered—but only if you plan ahead and use it.⁣
⁣
Because support looks like:⁣
✨ getting the rest your body truly needs⁣
✨ having someone guide you through the unknowns⁣
✨ feeling held, seen, and not alone in this transition⁣
⁣
Every family deserves that.⁣
⁣
If you’re expecting, let this be your gentle reminder—start thinking about your postpartum support now šŸ¤ā£
