PHISHING EMAIL ALERT

If you receive an email, EVEN IF IT IS FROM SOMEONE YOU KNOW, offering you an invite to a meeting or something similar that requires you to download a file, DON'T CLICK ON IT. Especially if you were not expecting any email from this person. If you think it IS actually a legit email from that person, call them and check before clicking on the link and downloading anything.

If you have already received one of these emails and accidentally clicked on something and downloaded and/or opened it, inform me immediately so that we can resolve the situation.

Your computer or device could possibly have surveillance software installed on it and all of your passwords, data and sensitive information could very well be compromised.

This has already occurred with other businesses and residences in the area and it's spreading quickly.

Please, be vigilant and thank you for your assistance in this situation.

To All Fredericksburg Residents:

It has come to our attention that a town wide power outage will occur next Tuesday, July 8th. As your IT/Computer consultant, we want to share with you some advice on how to protect your computers and the personal data they contain.
Before the power outage occurs at 10 p.m. we suggest:
-Shut down and unplug your computer. This includes any Tower PC, All in One or Mac computer, Laptops, Servers, or storage devices.
-Do not plug them back in until the power is back ON and stays on. If it is flickering, or if there is brown power, we would recommend not plugging in your devices.

Of course power surges and outages can affect other electronics and appliances too. If you wish to unplug those items, it's certainly better to be safe than sorry. But, those items don't contain personal data, files, or pictures that could potentially be lost. That's why we wanted to send out this information and suggestions to everyone.

To all of our customers:
There is a malicious/scam email being sent out from Shawver Well in Fredericksburg. They are aware of it, and have taken steps to stop it and secure their email. Unfortunately, some of you may still have that malicious email in your inbox.
If you receive, or have received, an email from them and it has a link for you to click and enter information-DO NOT click on it! DO NOT enter your information.
It would also be helpful to mark that email as phishing. If you do not know how, we can walk you through the steps. Or, at least delete it from your inbox.
If you ever receive an email you don't expect, or if it looks suspicious, it is always a better idea to not open it and not click on any links. Always look at the actual address that the email is from and make sure that it is a legit email that you recognize. If you ever have questions, or if you are unsure, feel free to contact us.
