This is still an issue in our local area! We have had numerous customers receive an email invite exactly like this, just in the last week!
If you are not expecting an invitation email, DO NOT open it.
If you open it, DO NOT click on the link or download button. This is how they get access to your computer, your email, and your saved passwords.
If you have received an email and you have clicked on the link-Please contact us to help you remove the malware and remote software from your computer.
And, if you have clicked on the link and installed the remote software on your computer-PLEASE change ALL of your saved passwords on your computer.
Please set up two step verification on your email, banking sites, and any other sensitive sites.
Please keep an eye on your bank accounts and credit cards, just in case they did get your information and decide to use it.
This is a very serious situation. This continues to be spread around because people's emails are being compromised, and the scam email is being sent out to more people, and those people are clicking on the scam download link! It is a vicious circle and it can only be stopped if everyone is aware of it, and stops clicking on it.
