We need to inform folks that Solar is often misunderstood. It is a part of Maine’s electricity grid, and is not the 100% answer but is one of the cheapest forms of energy, as we are seeing how Maine is being battered by volatile Natural Gas prices and imported Canadian Hydro. Solar should be properly sited, using American products, on low impact land with local labor. It does NOT require a feedstock to power, and is one of the cheapest forms of energy l. As much as folks like to send some angry messages about the look of it, or other misinformation - Maine needs more in state low cost, low emission energy. It is our mission to save ratepayers savings on electricity, and last years summer is still providing credits to get through the winter. It also has provided 17,000 jobs, and is a big contributor to Maine’s economy. Transmission Solar can provide power as little as 3.3 cents a kWh - though the utilities are charging 27 - 32 cents a kWh. I hope folks understand that what we are trying to do is provide the state with cheaper, environmentally friendly energy in a state that is forced to import the majority of their energy. I appreciate those willing to take a look and research what we are trying to do for our beloved state that has some of the most expensive electricity in the country.

Good News on Maine’s Lobster Baby Boom!
But we need to set the facts straight: Maine Lobstering is the most sustainable fishery in the world!
Maine Lobstermen are often unfairly treated compared to our Canadian fisherman (no offense cousins), and thanks to ridiculous politics Maine cannot sell lobster to China or Europe.

Canada generally has no maximum size limit, and
In Maine, the V-notch is a law. In many parts of Canada, it’s been voluntary or less strictly enforced. Maine was the first to implement many conservation measures now seen as gold standards, such as releasing egg-bearing females (1872) and the “v-notch” protection for broodstock. Scientists at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute found that Maine’s lobster population growth was double what it would have been without these specific protections.

In other countries, such as Canada, corporations own fleets of 50-100 boats and “strip-mine” the sea. In Maine, 100% of the industry is made up of independent small businesses.

Maine lobsters are 100% Hand-Harvested with Zero Bycatch

The state’s lobster fishery is one of the most strictly regulated in the world, utilizing a trap-and-buoy system that ensures individual accountability.

In Regards to Right whales, there is only one suspected case of entanglement with Maine lobster gear versus 21 in Canada. Maine has roughly 3 million vertical lines in the water. To have one death linked to the fishery in decades is a statistical miracle.

The ridiculousness of the loss of Sustainability Certification: We didn’t lose our sustainability certification because we stopped caring—we lost it because a judge in a courtroom hundreds of miles away said the government’s paperwork wasn’t perfect

Low Carbon Footprint: Recent studies show Maine lobster has a relatively low carbon footprint compared to other animal proteins (approx. 2.89 lbs of emissions per pound of meat).

Our Newcastle Solar Farm is 85% complete and should be up and running as soon as possible. The guys have been working in the snow 7 days a week to build this in one of the “realest@ winters we’ve had in a long time. This wee farm will be tucked away on a tough granite ledge unseen by the public with minimal environmental impact and 100% USA equipment and ALL Local labor. We can’t believe how fast you guys signed up, we are so sad Community Solar has ended but you know we have it our all do only do a few high quality projects instead of dropping farms in your face all over the place. Big shout out to the town of Newcastle for all of their support and everyone working in freezing conditions. We have the link in the profile with a couple spots left, but fear not we have one last project left before we close the Community Solar book. Thank you to everyone for supporting local solar, and we really appreciate everyone working with us to make this 5 year project a reality. ❤️

Thank You City of Eastport! We are so grateful of all of your support and thank you for all of the love and warm welcome to Midcoast Solar!! The City of Eastport is one of the most magical places in Maine. We are very pleased our little community solar farm is nestled on the highest point but hidden from view and powering the local community with clean, all American made products, and local labor while saving folks money. We appreciate that you bear with us while Versant upgrades the substation. Did you know this might be the first Solar farm in the country to turn on every day? Much love Eastport Fam!!

We appreciate everyone's patience and forgiveness while we work with CMP to try to get our Bristol Community Solar Farm online. The project was built and completed in March of 2023, and we have been desperately working with the utility to interconnect the project. We have a possibility of interconnection of October 2024 for partial power and 100% sometime beyond that but we haven't made an announcement as we wanted to be 100%. We do not have a good explanation for the delay other than Utility delays and we are very sorry everyone has had to wait so long.
We offered the $100 local gift cards to our subscribers to show our thanks for supporting us and we hope that the project will be able to provide you with power soon. It was the least we could do for our amazing community. Thanks again for all of your patience and understanding. 😟🥰😵‍💫

PowerMarket is handling subscriptions if you need to change anything. https://powermarket.io/

We are beyond frustrated but appreciate everyone understanding the situation is beyond our control and for offering beer, oysters, hugs, and even casseroles!!!!

PowerMarket makes it easy to go solar. Rather than installing solar panels directly on your home or business you can now get the electrical output from a local solar, wind or hydro project credited directly to your monthly utility bill. It's easy, less expensive, and supports clean energy developmen...
