One of my favorite sources of beauty lies in the relationships people develop between themselves and with their animal companions. The love and compassion that is shared between us and our pets knows no bounds or limits. With years of editorial work to my credit, I bring a photojournalist's perspective to my photo shoots. Yesterday's play time at Bailey's Dog Park was very well supervised. Everyone had a lot of fun and there were plenty of folks keeping things from getting out of hand. I write this just to remind everyone that the photos I post are snapshots in time - literally a fraction of a second. Sometimes you end up with something crazy like Falcor jumping over Bailey in the previous post or the strange googly eyes on Molly (I think?) here.

Something different for today. This is Evening Attire, one of the most popular geldings of recent years warming up at Aqueduct before a race. I loved Evening Attire from a very early point. I was there when he broke his maiden at Saratoga, hotwalking another horse. I couldn't help but admire the big beautiful grey (who was just a bit darker than he is in these photos) and we ended up coming down to the wire together, with Evening Attire getting the win. I followed his career for a long time thereafter. He is now enjoying retirement at Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue with his brother Tactitioner.

I don't know if it is the temperature drop or what but today it feels like summer is really gone. I don't know if the Lighthouse Park Carousel is still open but I'm sure it won't be for long. Here are some of the beautiful painted ponies that go round that circle again.
