December finds most harpists busy with Christmas banquets, shows and programs. Our daughter, Emily (pictured here with her 40-string Roma Bella Rosa) is busy this month with her brother Anthony (cello) playing live music for Servant Stage’s “A Christmas Carol” at local Lancaster, PA, theaters.

Our customer from Clinton, NJ, picked up her 34-String Ultra-Lite today. She writes...
I love my new Ultra-Lite harp in Cherry wood. The deep, bold sound is amazing. It is very easy to transport. I am bringing it to work at ExxonMobil. The music will bring joy to my coworkers who are being laid off throughout the next year. May God bless us all with healing and direction for the future.

Buyer Beware!
One of our customers told us yesterday that a replica of our 10-String Davidic Harp is now available on ebay (made in Pakistan)!
That wasn’t as shocking as what we discovered today… this same company pulled pictures from our current website and is advertising a few of our harps for sale. We thought our customers should know that we did not make these harps advertised on ebay, and the ones made in Pakistan are usually a lower quality.

Comparing the 34-Ultra Lite Harps:
For those who are wondering what the difference is between our new 34-Ultra Lite made of cherry & paulownia wood (15 lbs) vs. our standard solid cherry one (19 lbs)… here’s a video for you.
The sound is very similar but there is a big difference in weight.

Our customer from Grand Rapids, Michigan, writes…
Hi Sue,
The harp has arrived safe and sound! I am so excited to have it in hand and to begin my double harp journey. It sounds beautiful….and amazingly….is in tune! I am scheduled to play at a memory care unit in a few minutes so have to set this aside until I get back. I look forward to trying the stand, strap, etc. I’ll let you know if any questions arise. I’ve been a single harp player for many years and am surprised (so far) that it hasn’t been as hard to adjust my brain and eyes as much as I thought I would have to. I don’t think it will take to long to be able to play it well begin to take it to church and the other places I play.
Thank you for all of your quick responses and a BIG THANK YOU to you and your family for making these gorgeous sounding harps.

(she wrote back a little later to say)…Just experimentally playing for a couple of hours now, I have already been able to adapt some of the songs I play on the single strung harp!! I was prepared to have a week or two of frustration but it is not going to take that long at all to adjust. With the design having the two rows of strings close together AND truly parallel, rather than V-shaped, it is making it less of a vision/brain challenge as I had anticipated.

Hi Sue and Alex
I hope you are both well. As promised a few words about travel harp and a picture of me playing it.
I am very much enjoying playing the 22-string Travel Harp. Although i intended it for trips away, I find that the portability means that I am playing it frequently around the house. It seems to lends itself very well to improvisation and to harmonization of traditional tunes.
The sound quality is excellent for such a small instrument, with an especially warm mid range and good harmonics. I was a bit worried that the unusual shape and slightly closer string spacing than my full size lever harp would make it difficult to play, but that is not the case - I go from one to the other with ease. I look forward to traveling with it later in the year and am currently making a case that will keep it within maximum airline hand luggage dimensions!
