Founded in 1924 under the Electrolux name, our journey into Healthy Home innovation began with the introduction of the first tank (canister) vacuum by Gustaf Sahlin. This revolutionary design quickly became a household favorite and set a new standard for floor care—one that still influences modern vacuum technology today. In 1937, we opened our first manufacturing f

acility in Greenwich, Connecticut, where we launched the iconic Electrolux Model # # #. As wall-to-wall carpeting gained popularity in the 1950s, we responded with the first commercial-grade carpet shampooer, pioneering yet another advancement in home cleaning. With nearly 14 million Model # # # units sold before its 1954 retirement, the product was later honored by the Smithsonian Institute as one of the top 100 U.S. Through the decades, we’ve continued to evolve—expanding our product line and enhancing our technology to meet changing household needs. In 1970, a second manufacturing facility opened in Bristol, Virginia, further supporting our mission to deliver trusted, high-performance vacuum cleaners and carpet care solutions to homes across America.
