REMINDER: It is time once again for a technical phenomenon called "sun outages", also called "sun fade" and "sun spots".

Sun outages are caused when satellite-based communication is affected by sun interference when the sun passes directly behind a geostationary satellite as seen from a receiving earth station. When the dish antenna is looking into the sun, the interference from the sun overrides the signals from the satellite. This is when a sun outage occurs.

Simply put? Twice each year, the sun is positioned directly in line with the ground-based satellites used to receive your television programming. This positioning causes short programming interruptions as the sun overpowers the signals from the satellites. They will cause your picture to become snowy and/or pixilated, in some cases black/blank or display something like ‘Channel Not Available’ or "No Signal".

The Fall 2026 Solar Interference period will begin as early as September 28th and run as late as October 14th. If the interference occurs, it may happen several times throughout the day and normally lasts no more than 10-15 minutes each time.

There is no action that you need to take as your service will restore itself afterward.
