On October 17th, Assembly Bill S6790-A / Senate Bill 6233-A was signed into law, quadrupling the tax credit made available to volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.

There isn't any amount that can fully repay volunteers for their lost sleep, missed plans, and hazards encountered, but with this new credit and training stipends of up to $2,000 per class, there's never been a better time to become a volunteer firefighter and serve your community. We will train you!

🔥 Don't Let a Chimney Fire Ruin Your Winter! 🧹

As temperatures drop and wood stoves and fireplaces start getting more use, we remind residents that chimney maintenance is an important part of home fire safety.

Burning wood produces creosote, a highly flammable substance that can build up inside your chimney. Without regular cleaning, that buildup can ignite and cause a dangerous chimney fire.

Before you light your first fire this season:

✅ Have your chimney inspected annually by a qualified professional.

✅ Have your chimney cleaned as needed to remove creosote buildup.

✅ Burn only properly seasoned, dry firewood.

✅ Never burn trash, cardboard, or treated wood.

✅ Keep combustible materials away from your stove or fireplace.

✅ Make sure smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working.

🚒 Remember: Chimney fires can spread into walls, attics, and other parts of your home, sometimes without obvious warning signs.

If you suspect a chimney fire, get everyone outside and call 911. Never attempt to extinguish it by pouring water into the chimney.

A little preventive maintenance today can prevent an emergency tomorrow.

For Mondays drill, Lebanon Valley firefighters removed a roof using a Tennessee twist technique, removing all posts except one and twisting the roof away from the vehicle, in the event that door access is obstructed. Thanks for joining us for open drill night!
