🚨 Scheduled Maintenance Notice 🚨

NLBC will perform scheduled network maintenance during a window beginning at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, and ending at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21.

Customers can expect normal internet service throughout this window, with the exception of a brief interruption lasting approximately three minutes at 4:00 a.m. No additional outages or slowdowns are expected. If you experience any service issues beyond this brief interruption, please call us so our team can assist.

💡 Did you know that Wi-Fi doesn't stand for anything?

The name was chosen as a play on Hi-Fi, a term used in audio equipment that stands for "high fidelity."

Shortly after launching the name, the W-Fi Alliance briefly used the slogan "The Standard for Wireless Fidelity." This is where the misconception started - the public started to refer to Wi-Fi as "wireless fidelity."

This photo is a great example of why underground fiber construction requires patience and precision.

The yellow paint marks the approximate location of an underground gas line in the construction area. The trench shown is where our crew exposed the utility before continuing work. As you can see, the actual gas line is not located exactly beneath the painted markings.

Utility locates are an essential safety tool, but underground utilities don't always sit exactly where markings indicate. Previous construction, repairs, and changes made over time can create differences between what's marked above ground and what's actually below the surface.

That's why our crews take extra care during excavation, working carefully around existing infrastructure to minimize delays whenever possible. It's all part of delivering reliable fiber service while protecting the existing utilities that serve our communities.
