Tip for farmers: Is your farm dog used for guarding other farm animals such as cattle, sheep, goats and pigs? The farm dog can be deducted in a depreciation schedule over a period of years or Section 179. Vet bills and food may also be deducted for this guard dog. If your tax professional does not ask you this question, please bring it to their attention.

Tip for Business
Owners: Employer provided vehicles - If the employee uses the company provided vehicle for personal purposes, than the value of the personal use must be included on the employee's W2 as taxable income. Consult with your tax professional for the value calculation. This is not to punish your employees, but it is a tax deduction for your business.
