Your paradise awaits you!
And it's closer than you think. Right in the "Coral Kingdom" known as the Florida Keys. 125 miles of beauty, entertainment, and good eating. Get aboard the yacht cruise, sit back and enjoy the ride.
There is so much to do in the Keys but here is just some of what you'll find.
The Florida Keys are divided into five regions: Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pione & Lower Keys, and of course Key West. There are an astounding 42 bridges throughout the Keys connecting the islands in which one of them is almost seven miles long.
Every few miles is a new discovery. You'll find a grand variety of delicious seafood hot spots, beautiful beach resorts, tiki bars, nature preserves, and so much more. In Key West you'll be amazed by the unique culture and history. Also in Key West you'll find snorkeling, diving, fishing, and lots of delicious mouth-watering spots to eat that is sure to excite your taste buds. While in Key West, don't forget to try the key lime pie.
The best time to head to the Keys is during their peak tourist season which is December - May because it is off-peak tropical weather. Hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th in the Atlantic and peak hurricane season in the Keys is August 15th through October 15th.
I must mention the festivals that go on in the Keys are a reason to take the trip all in themselves. There are always some type of festivals going on. I'll mention a few but there are always new ones going on also. a few of the more famous ones are "Hemmingway Days" in Key West that goes on in July, then there's the "Seven Mile Bridge Run" in April, the "Original Marathon Seafood Festival" in March you absolutely must experience, and of course the famous "Key West Brewfest" which happens over Labor Day Weekend.
Now let me give you a little on each of the regions.
Islamorada is famously known as the Sport Fishing Capital which includes saltwater fly fishing.
Key Largo is known as the Dive Capital because of all of the diving events happening. You'll also find the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park which is the first underwater preserve in the U.S.
Key West is the southern most point in the continental U.S. It is home to an International Airport and has a beautiful historic district. It is also home to writers Ernest Hemmingway and Tennessee Williams.
The Seven Mile Bridge at Marathon is home to one of the longest bridges in the world.
Big Pine Key is known for the national refuge that protects the endangered miniature Key deer.
Let me touch a little on the food you'll find in the Keys. Some of the more famous foods are derived from the Caribbean culture. Foods such as the pork marinated in mojo sauce and the spicy conch chowder. A visit to the Keys wouldn't be complete without experiencing the key lime pie and the Key West pink shrimp. You'll be talking about it for a long time after.
When planning your paradise vacation keep in mind once in the Keys there are several different ways to get around. Some of these include shuttles from the Miami International Airport, the Lower Keys Shuttle Service, And Greyhound Keys Shuttle Service to name a few. A few of the Islands offer their own transportation around the Islands such as Duvall Loop which is a free bus service in Key West, and of course you'll find taxis, Uber and Lyft operating throughout the Islands also.
Besides all of the places with exotic foods and drinks you'll find a boatload of things to do. Places like the Harry S. Truman Little White House located in the Key West region, the Ernest Hemmingway Home & Museum also in Key West. Take a look at the beautiful Bahia Honda State Park in the Big Pine Key Region. Check out the Coral Restoration Foundation in the Region of Key Largo or the Honest ECO Sustainable Nature Tours in Key West. Also in Key West is the Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory that you may want to experience. Of course we can't forget to mention the Old Town Literary Walking Tour which is a 90 minute tour of the landmarks and sites of some of the famous writers which is also in Key West.
