Overview photos. I love taking pictures of regular life, candid shots of people working, whatever. Culturally this is really rude in Egypt and I was asked twice to stop before I finally gave up trying. However, surreptitiously I got a few shots from above, either from the roof of a hotel, the dahabiya cruise, or from the hot air balloon. Too tired to label everything, will do a complete download later.

Today we were back in Cairo, in the medieval and then the Coptic section. First set of photos is from the church of St. Sergius and St. Bacchus, which was built over the cave where Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus hid from Herod when he declared all males under age 2 be killed. Remarkable, spiritual experience. Back up in the church are many copies of early forms of the Bible. The church itself used Noah's ark as the model for the roof.
Finally, the Ben Ezra synagogue supposedly built on top of a spring where Moses was found as a baby floating in the Nile. Unfortunately no photos allowed except the name plate outside. Robert Lapeyrouse
