Kurt LaButte's story was one of the moments we'll remember most from this year's Summer Growth Summit.

Kurt shared how Todds Services endured the collapse of Michigan's housing market, followed by the heartbreaking loss of his brother and business partner. Rebuilding meant learning to lead differently: understanding the numbers, diversifying the company, creating recurring revenue, and developing a team that could make decisions without everything resting on its founder.

That work has helped prepare the next generation to lead Todd's Services into its next chapter.

At the end of his talk, Kurt gave Jeffrey a one-ounce silver dollar. Kurt gives these coins to mark meaningful dates, relationships, and moments, so the recipient will remember where they were, what happened, and who shared the experience with them.

Some moments from a recent Leader's Edge Peer Groupยฎ retreat, hosted by Scott Hartmann, owner of Scottโ€™s Lawn Care Inc.

During the visit, facilitator Sean Baxter led the group through an exploration of AI use cases using the CRIT criteria. They then applied AI directly to real challenges facing the group. Watching it move that fast as a thought partner was genuinely exciting.

Big recognition to Dave Wright, owner of Wright Landscape Services as this retreatโ€™s MVP. His advice always goes deep, addressing both the business and the person behind it. His experience really shows, and it makes a huge difference for the younger members of the group.

Beyond the business side, it felt like a close group of friends at a lake houseโ€”relaxed, supportive, and connected.
